About this project
Soup at Spaulding is a weekly dinner that seeks to get local projects up and running while supporting the rehabilitation of Spaulding Court, a community owned castle complex turning village center.
The $5 from each dinner guest buys soup, salad, delicious bread PLUS a vote for one of three projects that vie for funding. After a few bucks for the chef, the pot is split between the winner and Friends of Spaulding Court. As a way of doubling the impact of the fundraiser, we take our collective fundraising to the next level here at Kickstarter. The winner reports back to Soup at Spaulding in one month, a video update will be posted here at some point in the future.
Twelfth Ever Soup at Spaulding Chef: The Lovely Hannah Lewis Soup: Moroccan Stew Salad: Sliced Cucumber and Red Pepper Bread: Courtesy of Avalon Bakery Attendance: 42 Funds Collected: $205 Cash for food: $75 Winner: Ben Wolf and the Dormer House
Artist Ben Wolf is helping to fight crime and express his sculptural vision in Detroit by making mutant dormer house. With the help of some trusty Detroiters, Ben scoured the neighborhoods looking for dormers in burnt out houses claiming the remains and inserting them into a badly damaged house.
Funds raised here will keep the project moving and allow Ben to pay for help to move the dormers onto the house (not a one man job).
