Connected as Makem-Spain Brothers (1761 friends)
Not in the past 30 years has a group taken the international stage with such vocal power and stage presence, capturing the essence of their genre, while standing out as something truly unique. A host of various instruments and five male vocals, using precise three-part harmonies blend perfectly for what many have described as a wall of sound. The Makem and Spain Brothers are at their best onstage where their talent and enthusiasm draw in fans who have never experienced the joy of folk music.
Took me awhile to get my act together, but I'm happy to be able to support this project in my small way. Congratulations on gaining the amount needed to fund the project--I'll be eagerly awaiting the finished product! Great news too about Tommy's induction into the Hall of Fame--great article in Fosters. Can't wait to see you this summer in Milwaukee!
Congratulations, guys! We're really looking forward to the outcome of this project! You deserve all of our support and more. Anne and Harvey Savitt
Happy to be a part of this project. Thank you for helping to keep folk music alive and well!
Thanks for letting us be a part of this wonderful project. We have all of the other CD's and can't wait for this one. You guys did a great job in Dallas last fall, and we were blessed to have been in that audience. The music keeps us young! Mike and Mary
Saw you guys in Colorado awhile ago. Hope I get the chance to see you again. I love listening. Watching is even better.
I know it's not much, but wanted to show my support for this cool project! Reminds me of "The Lark In The Morning" project. Awesome that you are carrying on the tradition. Have a blast!
What a great project! Have fun doing it (we're sure you will!).

Your father and Liam Clancy got me interested in Irish and folk music. I am happy to support this. I am passing this music on to my sons. Check us out on youtube: johntedjohn. Good luck!
So glad I saw the article in "Foster's" this morning. It is an honor to help with this most worthy project. Great collaboration! Best wishes!
Who is the little girl playing air mandolin in the video? Get her in the band, stat!
I was just listening to John Prine's ballad "Paradise" ("Daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County..."). I don't know if you're taking suggestions, but I think that song is tailor-made for the Makem/Spain sound!
Happy to pledge! As a kid, my family's long car trips would always be accompanied by the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (and the various family combinations), as well as Schooner Fare. The Makem & Spain Brothers are not only a worthy heir to this legacy, but (at the risk of blasphemy) are possibly out-doing their elders! I sincerely hope this project will be made and this great music brought to a well-deserved wider audience.
Up The Stairs was probably my favorite album of 2011. I'm more than happy to lend a hand in the next project.
