About this project

EDGES: The Musical by Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul is coming to Los Angeles!

What is EDGES?

EDGES is a modern pop musical about coming of age, growth, love, and self-discovery. It's about that timeless question of "Am I who I really want to be in life or can I become something greater"? The characters reflect where they've come from, their trials and adventures, and ultimately discover what really matters most to them in life.

What's the history of EDGES?

EDGES was written in 2005 by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul while they were undergraduates at the University of Michigan. A year later, the duo won the Jonathan Larson Award of $20,000 for their work on EDGES. Since then, EDGES has been performed at universities and theaters worldwide, and now Los Angeles.

When and where is the show?

Our production of EDGES opens on May 3 and runs for the first two weekends of May for a total of eight performances.

Our show will run at the incredible black-box theatre mainstage of The Actor's Company located in West Hollywood.

How can you help?

Putting on independent theatre in Los Angeles isn't easy or cheap. We're turning to KickStarter and you to help launch our production and be the best possible show we can make it. All donations made on KickStarter go to production expenses of theater rental, scenic design, lighting, sound, costumes, and crew expenses. We need your help to make EDGES a once-in-a-lifetime production and prove that independent theatre is still very much alive and kicking.

Why EDGES?

EDGES is a musical about self-discovery. Everyone has at one point questioned who they are, their purpose in life, and where they want to go. We think this is a terrific show to put on in Los Angeles where so many people come to try and discover themselves.

What about any show proceeds?

All proceeds from the show will be given to two charities near and dear to the production.

The first charity is the "Reach Out and Read" foundation, which promotes literacy amongst the youth of the world by providing families with children access to books and educational services. In the past year alone, the charity gave out more than 4.5 million books to families with young children. http://www.reachoutandread.org/

The second charity is the LEAP Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to educating young adults in the value of goal-setting, effective communication, and the invaluable power of mentorship. http://www.leapfoundationusa.org

Every dollar counts.

Every single donation makes a difference. Large or small, whatever you contribute supports not just our production, but independent theatre in general. All of us on the production want to thank you for your help in making our dream a reality!

Thanks!
