Thanks for checking out my project.
The Song: A New York reggae called "From a Distance"
The Video: People have told me they love the song, so I'm motivated to create a music video that will bring out all the flavors that went into writing & recording the song.
I've written a video treatment, found an incredible director and the perfect location.
My vision: capturing the vibe of the classic reggae area within the sets of today's New York. Rich, colorful imagery and alluring shots that expose sensations and spirits, revealing the life of my peers and I. The storyline will take us around and through a day in the City. Constant motion and playful shifts will merry a modern lyric with the pace of vintage sounds.
Next step: getting it done. In order to do so, I need to provide the funds for talent, equipment rentals & editing.
I'm confident that with your involvement I can accomplish the challenge of a cutting- edge music video.
A personal dream of mine. And well- anticipated launch to the next level of my career.

Sophia Bastian started her musical path as a Jazz Vocal Major in New York. During her time at school she started recording her original music and was offered an impressive 8- week residency based off her first demos. Sophia and her band have previously opened up for the legendary band, the Roots and have performed at numerous venues in NY, LA and across Europe. She made her first big mark on the scene with her recent release of her debut EP, which is entirely written & composed by the songstress. The sound of her voice is lush yet powerful exposing her as a true and raw singer. Her sound is clearly influenced by the greats of Classic Souls and Blues. The love for Nina Simone, Ray Charles and Etta James come through.Her songwriting however proves her as one of a girl of her time. She writes with truth and soul and an uncanny ability to expose the uncomfortable with a poignant sense of humor. The Chorus of her "Juvenile Blues" goes 'Ask your babysitter, to buy you liquor - not me".Her captivating stage presence makes Sophia more than a good singer/songwriter; She is what you would call a world class singer.
