Ursel Schlicht's SonicExchange

Kassel, Germany, Summer 2012

SonicExchange is a 100-day music residency: a thread of sonic exchanges with performers from around the globe during dOCUMENTA (13), 2012.

My studio at Fotomotel Wolf 53, a new artistic hub in Kassel, will be open from June 9 to September 15, 2012.  I will give frequent concerts on-site, alone and with guest artists.

Music has always been my means of transcending boundaries between people, cultures, art forms.   My daily work consists of improvising and composing at the piano.  SonicExchange's artistic focus is on the process of interacting and exchanging ideas through sound, spoken word, dance and related art.

SonicExchange is supported by the City of Kassel and the State of Hessen.  The initial response from artists has been incredible! Musicians, composers, dancers and spoken word artists from Australia, Korea, England, Iceland, Israel, Poland, Lithuania, Belgium, Austria, Germany and the US want to participate.  Several can only come if I raise enough funds to help cover travel and hotel costs.  This campaign is critical to support guest artists!  Please give generously.
