Any updates on this project? It's been 3 months since it was funded and I still haven't received anything.
      Thanks

Once the project is done funding I'll send out a questionnaire asking you what cuisine you're interested in, any requirements (vegetarian, etc), how adventurous you are, whether you'd like something that can sit around a while before you cook it, and stuff like that! Don't worry, we'll get you covered.

In for a Date in a Box! How does one request which cuisine they are interested in receiving? I already am a pretty good cook IMHO but I love the idea of having everything on hand for a new cuisine in one place! Ditto for communication RE timing of shipment, etc, perishability, etc.

This is my first kickstarter project I've backed, totalllllly worth it. Kudos.

Good question! I'm going to be shipping everything via USPS flat-rate packages, which take 2-3 days to reach their destination. For some recipes there'll definitely be perishables involved.

I think the perishable ingredients fall into two categories - the hard-to-perish ones (e.g. most fruits, lemongrass) that we won't have to worry about, then the more fragile ones. The fragiles are mostly fresh herbs.

First, I'll be making sure to pack them right. Things like wrapping in moist paper towels, ziploc bags, etc are all things I'm trying out in some test mailings this week. Secondly, I'm going to buy them as fresh as possible, staking out grocers and shipping on the day they get deliveries.

I'll also plan around how you operate - if you're way busy in general and cooking everything in the day or two after you receive it is out of the question, I'll work on recipes without perishables for you.

So, long story short, I think we'll be okay on the perishables front!

While not in a position to help fund this project, I do plan on sharing it on my Facebook page soon for others to see. However, I have one question, do these boxes include any perishable ingredients, and if so how are they shipped?

Howdy! I live in Brooklyn and make all sorts of things. I've built web sites to help you get around NYC on the subway, made maps of where single people live, and figured out just how many people in Japan are baking cookies on Saturdays at 4:30 PM. Right now I'm working hard on Brooklyn Brainery, a Brooklyn-based organization that offers super cheap collaborative classes on really neat topics.
