Firm Foundation featured on Polis!

Hello Rock-Stars! We wanted to share an article that Polis blog just posted about Firm Foundation:
[ polis ] : Participatory Waterfront Design in Banjarmasin
Polis is a collaborative blog about cities that brings together stories and ideas from locales across the globe. They bring perspectives on compact housing development, graffiti interventions, race, and foreclosure--just to name a few of the many urbanism topics they've addressed recently.
This video posted on Polis is a mini-documentary created during our fieldwork in Banjarmasin last summer. We were lucky enough to visit several riverfront neighborhoods in the city and discuss key water-related problems that residents deal with everyday. They told us that while the waterways bring them big problems, the rivers are an important part of their cultural identities as Banjaris.
As Ogi, a young riverfront resident and medical student, said:
"It's our culture. It's the culture of Banjarmasin people to build their houses over the water."
Earlier this year, Polis shared another project Solo Kota Kita worked on in Indonesia. The Musrenbang Mini-Atlases aggregated, analyzed and shared community-sourced data to support participatory budgeting in Surakarta in Central Java.
