Hello Backers!!

Sorry for the long pause between updates, there's been a ton going on!

I have just come back from being in Taiwan where I was collecting the production samples with the new design! They've run them through testing, and they held up to some serious abuse! Tens of thousands of cycles of shaking, smashing, etc and no visible damage other than some scratched paint!

The new design looks AWESOME! But we need to make a couple of tweaks to it in order to ensure that the cables are sliding back in super smoothly. I'm modifying the drawings as I write this and I'm getting a new 3D printed rapid prototype made to make sure that the assumptions are correct. As soon as that's done, our seat post manufacturer will start making the tooling/mold next week and the production run will start as soon as the tooling is complete!

In order to make sure that the product is the best it can possibly be for you guys this means a slight delay from the original estimated delivery date. The first production run should be complete in June, then shipping to North America and allowing us time to process all 1112 of your shipments (WOOH!) means you should receive them in August. I'm sorry for the delay but we want to get this right!

In other news:

When I was in Taiwan, I was also able to attend the Taipei Cycle Show, where I was meeting with bike manufacturing companies to talk about equipping their bikes with the InterLock as standard spec! The InterLock was received really well - I'm STOKED!

I also now have a business partner! Jonathan Mara has an amazing skill set that compliments mine, and together we are going to rock this thing! In the picture below you can see Jon and I in Taiwan with our agents there that are helping us navigate our relationships with the manufacturers in Taiwan. I'm in Taiwan right now, I've been here for the past week meeting with the seatpost and lock manufacturers. It's been really awesome to check out their production lines and see how things are done!

The seat post manufacturer suggested that we create some aluminum CNC samples to do stress and strength testing on before we open up the tooling to start making the molds for the forged version. The forged version will be stronger than the CNC version, so once the CNC version passes all testing, we know the forged version will be rock solid! See the pics below to see what their seat post testing facility looks like! Hydraulic forces will shake the post like crazy, and put a lot more force on it than it will ever experience beneath your backside!

The photos below show the process from raw material to seat post! It's been really amazing learning the process and getting a better understanding of how the InterLock will come to life!

I have also met with the lock manufacturer and we've been finalizing details on the lock head and how it will secure itself into the seat post.

I should have the CNC prototype and final lock sample in my hands in 2-3 weeks, I will definitely post pictures and results from the testing as soon as possible!
