A documentary about two restless Americans who go looking for peace in all the wrong places.
About the Film

What am I Funding?
Since the production and the editing are completed only three things remain before we can get the film out to audiences at screenings, festivals, and online.
1. The Sound Mix
The most important thing a sound mix will ensure is that the audio is clean, clear and audible. Despite excellent equipment, having shot in a guerrilla style in some noisy, inhospitable places with limited crew meant that the sound clarity often suffered. Using advanced technology, the sound design process will ensure what's being said comes across clearly and without distractions. Additionally, the designer will mix the audio and music levels to help guide the viewer through the journey of the characters in a resonant way. This is why we are hoping to work with Jamey.

2. The Color Grade
As a guerrilla documentary that captured moments as they happened we're in need of professional color grading even more so than most films. The color grading process includes:
- adjusting the lighting and color individual shots to improve visibility
- adjusting color and contrast on shots to smooth edits between shots
- giving the film a unified cinematic look
You can see a sample color grading process performed on the photo taken by Barnabe Geis that we used for the film's poster (below).
We've enlisted Edo to help us with this process for the film.
3. The Music
Music in film helps underscore the internal and emotional currents of the characters and events. As a film eyeing distribution we can't simply use music we don't have rights to. That's why we've enlisted the help of Brett.
Brett and Sohrab previously worked on a short film together. Listen to Brett's haunting and elegiac score in the film's opening scene below.
The song "Tarde de platillos volantes" by laguna is used under the creative commons licence.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
As with any film, production and editing are extremely difficult and risky. That's why we finished shooting and editing before bringing it to you. With your help we can get the film polished and ready to be seen by audiences in festivals, at screenings, and online. If for any reason we can't get you your reward as stated, at your request we'll issue you a full refund.
We plan on using any extra money we raise towards getting the film on iTunes, Amazon, Hulu and other online distribution channels via distribber. We estimate this to cost about $2500. Any other money will be used for marketing the film and getting it out to audiences.
Any movie that deals with this region is political. If you try to avoid the politics you end up making a limp movie more interested in pleasing everyone than being honest. But this isn't a documentary with a rigid political message. More than anything it's a personal journey that documents what we saw, and how that affected us.
Look, no account is objective. Obviously, our documented experience is shaped by who we are, the specific places we visited, and the people we met. In that sense, we feel that the film is subjective but not biased or agenda driven.
As soon as it's ready we'll get it to you. Once you donate, we'll have your contact information, and we'll keep you updated with news about your rewards. You can also stay tuned for updates on http://www.facebook.com/TheJerusalemSyndrome and https://twitter.com/thejsyndrome.
Thanks for your support, we can't wait for you to see the final film!
