@Jason Don't worry, it is worth the wait.. SmartThings is awesome! I am having so much fun.

@teramitsu - I would contact support. You will likely need to exclude the lock from the hub and there is a step they can do to help before you can re-pair it. Z-Wave can be a bugger if you do not remove it from a hub properly. Either way, contact support and they can help step you through it!

      UPDATE:
Ryan Hanna helped me by replacing my multi sensors. the new ones arrived in 2 days & quickly paired with the hub with no problem. great help & thanks so much Ryan.

I also got my KWIKSET Smartcode Zwave deadbolt. it initially paired with the hub, but didnt update or respond. so i tried removing & reinitializing it to the system. it refuses to pair now. I reset it to factory default & still no luck pairing. I did a google search with the micasa (a competitor system) blog & they have the same problem with the lock. I also have the schlage BE-365 locks in the house, but unfortunately they aren't networkable. the problems with the KWIKSET deadbolt are the inside housing is made of cheap plastic & the reprogram button is unprotected on the inside under the plastic hood. no screw on the hood to keep it secure & no code to enter to reprogram. a child or guest can hit the button & enter their own pass code with nothing to stop them. then you'd be locked out of your own home. at least the Schlage deadbolt needs a 6 digit program code in order to make any changes & is made of metal.

I have been extremely patient, but starting to get a little antsy now waiting for it to come. I was a double pack backer so perhaps that's why mine is taking longer. But support just says "next possible batch given my selections." I was on vacation for two weeks and had hoped to see it while I was off, but I guess it was not meant to be. Looking forward to getting my SmartThings!

      @SmartThings
"@Don, our apologies. It isn't that we won't support it at all. We are working towards support, but do not currently in favor of Z-wave, for which there are many compatible versions of locks that will
support a simple chip exchange if desired in the future."

Do you mean you are in favor of Z-wave but not in favor of ZigBee?
Because I see most of the locks you have in there are Z-wave?
Just wanna make sure I get the right one :p

@Seungchang Kim, I have not noticed an decrease in battery life either. I have had my smartThings for many weeks now and was even getting notification all last week while I was in China.

    8. Missing_small

Creator Eric Schuld 1 day ago

@Seungchan - I haven't really noticed any big difference in my battery drain - but your mileage may vary of course. Neat way of using it and tracking when/how long people are seeing your home etc! SmartThings should develop a Realtor package with a smaller hub and just a couple items to try and help gauge metrics on showings etc... could be a really neat tool for Realtors!

Thanks, @LuCas. Looks like this may become possible in the future with some ambitious development.

Creator Seungchan Kim 1 day ago

Got the kit last week, right before I put my house on sale. Put the motion sensor on and auto-switch connected. Whenever new potential buyers come in, the light turned on and I got the notification. I also got to know how long each one stayed, an indication of their interest? Well, got the offer on the second day and didn't get to use it much longer. :(

Does anyone have experience with Aeon Labs Z-Wave Multi-sensor? I am considering adding this or the smartthings motion sensor and was wondering if anyone has used both and can offer some comparisons.

    13. Missing_small

      Creator remnant 2 days ago

I currently have a hard-wired alarm system. Are there any options to swap alarm panels to make the existing motion detectors and door open/close sensors work with SmartThings? It's ok if I have two separate systems, but curious if retrofitting is an option.

@Gray, It's growing on my wife...I am not sure she has ever turned off a light in her life. No matter how hard I try to remind her, it has never happened. On top of that she almost burned our house down last week when she left her curling iron on, and it ignited a wooden brush. So, I think she realizes technology is a necessity to make up for her forgetfulness :)

@Cory: I have a similar fear. My wife was not impressed at all that I replaced the living room dimmer so that the recessed lighting can be controlled from her phone, but I suspect that at some point she might realize she can totally mess with those lights while I'm watching baseball or something.

I got my kit yesterday! I setup my Z-wave locks on it and just sat on the couch giggling like a madman while I locked, then unlocked the doors repeatedly while my wife looked at me with a very annoyed expression. Then I did the same thing while running out of the house, having it auto lock behind me, and unlock as I came back...well until I slammed head first into the door on the final time...to find out my wife had unplugged the hub locking me out... :(

@Jeb: i watched the video and could not find out how to enable this feature so I contacted support. unless you have IDE access, you need to contact support to enable this feature for now. in the future, it will be able to be changed in the app. I now have it enabled where the icon changes to open and I can recieve a text message indicating that my garage door has been open for X minutes.

Yay, got my SmartThings, and they do look slick! Nice job putting together a finished product; this is the best looking thing I've gotten from Kickstarter, unlike a few others which sounded good, then fell flat (cough cough Twine cough).

Why can't a multi sensor show all 3 things on my home screen. I would like to see open/close and temp at the same time on home screen instead of having to click on the multi options.

    35. Alex.small

      Creator Alex 4 days ago

Finally received my SmartThings only to find out that they no longer support the Zigbee versions of the Kwikset locks. I have three of those. Am going to have to see how much Kwikset charges to swap out the SmartConnect card. Not happy is an understatement.

@jeb: which video are you referring to? i am trying to figure out how to use the angle info.

    38. Missing_small

Creator Eric Schuld 4 days ago

@JEB - nice idea on setting the angle for your closed/open status - I think right now - as far as I've seen - it'll only show the green for the open/close on the magnet. I'd shoot that idea over to support@smartthings.com - I think that is still the best avenue to get idea to the dev team.

    39. Missing_small

Creator JEB Pickett 4 days ago

Trying to use the multi-sensor on a garage door using angle reading (as shown in the video) rather than magnet. Can I make the app report with the green Open/Close based on angle (rather than just showing the angle and active)? It seems to only do open/close if you use the magnet?

    41. Alex.small

      Creator Alex 5 days ago

Creator Eric Schuld 5 days ago

@Smurf - if you feel comfortable doing so - head over to the build page and share some of them when you have some cool ones together! I'd love to see em!

    43. Alex.small

      Creator Alex 5 days ago

@Cade I have created quite a few so far. The first app I made is called SmartSwitch. It watches the events on any switch capable device and ties them together with other switches. I currently have it working on all my rooms that have multiple lights. When I enter the room and turn on the "master" light switch, all other switches tied to that switch are turned on. When I turn it off, all other switches are turned off.

The next best application I have been working on is a SmartMotion app. I am looking at the log events of the previous switches that are associated with a light switch. If no events have been seen recently, I will hand over control to the motion sensor that will then control the lights being turned on or off with motion in the room. If at any point I hit the light switch, I am telling the motion controller that I want control with the master and not to turn on or off any lights automatically.

Other apps I have created are just for testing certain capabilities. I am just having fun playing. If you have any specific ideas let me know and I can work with you on some code.

      @Gaston:

      1. There should be a cardstock page - 1/2 page - that has the code printed on it in the box.

      2. No cellular in the version 1 hub that we got here through the KickStarter campaign.

1)Got my smartthings hub but cant connect it to the web... the app ask for a 6 character code and I can't find it in the back of my hub.

      2) Isnt it supposed to have a cellular modem?

    46. Missing_small

Creator Eric Schuld 5 days ago

@Mark - you need to email support@smartthings.com and express interest in being in the Android Beta. From what we understand they are close to letting people into beta - but not there yet. So as of right now it isn't working on Android - to setup now - you need to use an iOS 6 device.
