Fun News!
We wanted to share some particularly fun news for everyone following STRIPPED:
Bill Watterson will be involved in the film!
Mr. Watterson very kindly answered 15-20 questions on the current state of cartooning, the competing concerns of art-vs-business, the decline of newspapers, the appearance of webcomics, the changing relationships with readers, and the changing nature of how a cartoonist creates their art.
He was incredibly generous in his responses: They're in-depth, thought-through, and demonstrate incredible insights with the art form.
Keep in mind: He didn't have to take the time to answer our questions, nor even respond to our inquiries... so Fred and I couldn't be more thankful to him. He's a good man.
As film-makers, the challenge now will be to cleverly incorporate static text into the film -- but we're feeling good about the creative solutions we're coming up with.
So! Short version: Bill Watterson is awesome, and we couldn't be more thankful to him for adding his thoughts to the film.

Static text?? Could you involve dinosaurs somehow? It's what Calvin would want :)

That's great. We've a big stack of C&H books in the break room at work. I am re-reading C&H every day now. I was just online a couple of days ago trying to see what Bill W was up to. I'm very excited to hear what he's thinking.

I had a suspicion. I think you showed a bunch of folders with info about each artist in one of the updates, and there were two bills, one of them with no last name...
Just trying to feel clever. That's the BEST NEWS EVER. Like the other 90% of the world, Calvin and Hobbes has a very special place in my heart.

Liz, I'm guessing that Mr. Waterson didn't actually do a face to face interview but rather responded to a set of questions presented (likely not in person, perhaps via mail or a friend) to Mr. Waterson.
Depending on his wishes, the Stripped writers may or may not be able to disseminate the full text. I would love the text in a pamphlet / booklet in the physical DVD, personally, but any insights from Mr. Waterson are worth more than gold.

I don't know what planetary alignment caused this temporary realignment of the natural order, but I'm overjoyed by this news. I don't suppose it would be possible to, ahem, eventually, uh, you know, post the complete text of his interview at some point? Hey, I'm only asking because of that shift in the natural order...
Creator Jamie Fickes on July 18, 2012
Whoa! Great get!!! Super excited to see the final product!
Creator Roger Green on July 18, 2012
Glad for that, though I thought talking to you would have taken less time than writing it down. Whatever works.

Good lord, who did you bribe to get Watterson? He's legendarily hard to get comments from.
