About this project
Calling all comrades, patrons and friends!
Over the past month, Slow Motion Centerfold have filmed ourselves at live shows and in the studio, compiled fan footage from youtube and used our bass player's photography skills with stop motion animation to create this film that we're incredibly proud of. Using Final Cut Pro, we spent over 130 hours editing this video all by our lonesome. It's taken its toll on our sleeping habits and we've seen a lot of sunrises this month, but it's been well worth it.
On the brink of releasing our debut album, Rock The Body Language, we want to buy a van and trailer to tour the United States.
The 11 song LP was completely self funded. To retain complete artistic control, we wanted to make sure we owned every piece of this album (so it wouldn’t end up in a McDonalds commercial). Recorded in Nashville, TN with producer Brian Virtue and assistant producer Mike Joyce, we emptied our pockets paying for studio time, mixing, mastering, cover art, and duplication costs.

With your help, we’re hoping to purchase a van that has enough muscle to pull a trailer with a couple thousand pounds worth of gear across miles and miles of man’s largest creation: the US interstate system. In order to reach the level of professionalism we want as a band, we must tour constantly. Our ultimate goal is to make a career out of our music, and because of the digital revolution and accessibility of music through social network and bit torrent sites (which we support), most money is accumulated on the road. Some bands have a record label that advance the band money for a bus or van, but that mindset isn't realistic anymore.
You see, what most people don’t realize is that record label money is only handed out alongside a contractual obligation of repayment by the band. We’re not really down with that. We believe that with the instability of record labels today, it is best for a band to be supported by those who believe in their music: the fans. That is why we are reaching out to you in hopes of your support. We’ve made an album that we are proud of, and now we are determined to hit the road and expose it to the masses.
Your generous donation will not go unnoticed. We are using this project as a platform for the official record release. The album will not be physically available to the public until later this summer, so this is the first chance to get your hands on it. While a $10 pledge will earn you a digital copy of the album, more money will take you a little bit further, into more personalized territory. We are offering exclusive b-sides from the album, a private living room acoustic set from the band, autographed photos and artwork, and even our lead singer's microphone that he used while recording the record.
This is a big opportunity for us, so we thank you in advance for any support you offer. After all, you are the reason we are doing this.
