About this project
In May 2011, we created a cirque noir-style adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale, THE RED SHOES and are bringing it back to our Austin audience for one weekend only in August! THE RED SHOES follows the story of a young girl seduced by a pair of red shoes fit for a princess as she descends through the ranks of hell. Aerial acrobats, dancers and puppeteers interpret the classic story through a blend of traditional circus acts like trapeze and aerial silks, dozens of shadow puppets and a single giant marionette.
In our first run, we had a very modest lighting budget ($500) and had to beg for & borrow lots of stuff. For the next run, we'd love to raise $1500 to have a full professional lighting set up. Without lights, you can't see the amazing show - so your contribution will fundamentally make the show possible.
Also, our Kickstarter fundraiser is the only way you can get some exclusive stuff from the show, including the original Red Shoes Girl mask, Hell Girl masks, VIP tickets to the show and more!
The Red Shoes Reprise plays at the ND in Austin, TX on Friday, August 19 - Sunday, August 21. Evening shows start at 8pm and matinees (on both Saturday and Sunday) start at 3pm. For more details, check out http://theredshoes.eventbrite.com.
