About this project

Jumped on a plane 6/25/11 and flew one-way to the furthest airport in Mexico from Austin, Texas. From there I will wander about photographing and travel-blogging using an iPhone and minimal audio/video gear. The only plan is going into the unknown and letting the unfamiliar move and inspire. I will write about the adventure and chance encounters along the way.

I have discovered that while traveling, you're paying much closer attention to all the little details you normally tend to filter out when at home in familiar surroundings. That heightened state of awareness tends to inspire and seems to fuel creative thought. I've learned you can get to this state of mind anywhere, even at home. It's just so much easier while traveling and the potential to see the world from a completely new perspective is greater.

Join me on this journey and thank you very much for your support!

Please spread the word to anyone and everyone you think might dig my project. I must reach the total goal in order for the project to be funded, so any help I can get sharing this will be most appreciated.

The journey has already begun and being documented HERE

More to come... Stay tuned!

Update: I just discovered that the updates blog on the project page allows me to publish publicly or privately... viewable only to backers. I'm figuring this out as I go, so from this point on there will be updates to the Kaleidoscope blog, and every now and then public updates here. However, in appreciation, there will also be photos, text & other content published on the updates page that will be exclusively viewable only to backers. So there ya go, one more incentive to support this project. And, a GIANT thanks to those who've supported me thus far!

"Image making reminds me to awaken from the slumber and to celebrate life's rich pageantry parading all around us."

-- Skip Hunt

Skip Hunt, born on the wind-swept plains of Oklahoma, is a professional photographer in Austin, Texas. He picked up a 35mm camera in the mid-1970's and has never stopped sharing his unique vision via photographic images.

Many moons ago, he was bitten hard by the wanderlust beast and has been canvassing the globe ever since. Visionary artists such as Pete Turner, David Lynch, Cindy Sherman, and Andre Kertesz set Skip's sight on a fine-art horizon early on. His insatiable thirst for rich color and even richer cultural exploration keeps him on the road most of the time.

When he's recharging his batteries, he calls Austin, Texas home.
