We are a family production company who's goal is to bring a new type of theater to the Lehigh Valley, PA!
Last year we, The Gilbert Family, started our own production company and produced two full scale musicals.
This Summer we are producing the musical "The Wiz!" We chose The Wiz this summer in order to expose a larger number of minorities to the world of theatre in the Lehigh Valley, and in the process to make the Lehigh Valley aware that our minoirty community has much to offer. Our shows do not stick to traditional casting, but the casting is truly color blind!
We view our productions as our mission. We have had teenagers and people involved in our last two shows who were completely new to the theatre experience and often have families who are uninvolved. We do not charge tuition or participation fees, and though we try our best for parent involvement, it is not required in order to be a part of our show.
If you are not familiar with theater there are many costs that go into producing a musical. There are start-up costs, lighting, sound, costumes, venue fees, advertising, and the rights to perform the show. These are what we are raising funds for on KickStarter and we could really use your help to put on our production of "The Wiz!"
In the video are two of the five founders of Sing for America performing a selection from our first production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella." Tasia Gilbert played Cinderella and Teara Gilbert played the Fairy Godmother!
