Award-winning British storyteller Simon Brooks has been a professional storyteller since 2003 and released his first CD, "Second-hand Tales" in 2006. He followed that with "More Second-hand Tales" in 2008, and in 2011 released "A Tangle of Tales" which got the Gold Award from Parent's Choice. Simon grew up with the hills of Britain, coming to the States in his early 30’s. He has lived in Portland OR, Somerville MA and now resides in New Hampshire with his family, a pet guinea pig and cat.

I have known Simon for a VERY long time. We met when he was the manager of the Youth Hostel in Hastings, England. I continue to marvel at his energy and commitment to youth. Fear not; he isn't dedicated in the way of those who make the news! He has managed to keep his inner child alive and kicking, all the while maintaining his clever disguise as a responsible adult. (Maybe that's why we bonded so well.) I was proud to sponsor his application to the State Department for immigration to the U.S. well over 15 years ago.

Many years ago I was involved in migratory programs for children In Washington and Hancock Counties in Maine to share stories. These children had only a few structured events to ignite their lives. Scouting and storytelling made a big exclamation point in an otherwise routine day. My friend Simon Brooks is helping a camp in Vermont and if you could join us you too could make a difference. Thanks
