Shirt Happens is an original animated universe chronicling the adventures of anthropomorphic clothes!
Our goal: to produce an animated video using a professionally designed background. We will use the money from this campaign to buy the professionally designed art from a website called cartoonsolutions.com This collection will provide us with a huge amount of new material with which we can keep producing high-quality videos.
Shirt Happens is an original animated universe that chronicles the adventures of anthropomorphic shirts and other clothing as they compete for money, power and influence in an enormous social project built to be a metropolitan shopping paradise - the International Mall City of America (IMCA).
Thanks to everyone for taking a look at our project. Shirt Happens Studio is an independent digital content studio owned by Tylor Chacon and Rupert Follins. For the past two years we have been putting this project together in our spare time with hard work and a focus on building a brand that has visual appeal and lasting potential.
Our cartoon takes advantage of an animation engine that we have carefully crafted that allows us to put out a new video on average once a week. With the funds from this kickstarter campaign we would like to purchase a collection of background art from cartoonsolutions.com that will allow us to continue to focus on video creation instead of adding to our current collection slowly over time by doing it ourselves.
We hope to receive some kickstarter love because we aren't coming to you with just an idea and some concept art. We have a full-fledged website that we made ourselves, Shirthappensstudio.com , that we use to showcase our videos and our brand. We have a YouTube Channel at youtube.com/user/shirthappensstudio where we are building our fan base. We currently have 99 subscribers and over 20,000 views. We have been posting videos now for only two months and have received mainly positive feedback so far.
We have worked our butts off to create original content and we don't mind sharing it with everyone for no cost. Of course we hope to get network love one day but for now its all for fun and so far its been a blast. We love our fans, they enjoy our content and we've surpassed every goal we set for the brand when we started two years ago. We hope you kickstarters can help us to provide even better videos by helping us purchase some kick-ass background art that we will share within the rules set by the owners ( we can license the rights to derivative works made with the purchased art ).
We also don't mind showing YouTube love or posting links on our website for our kickstarter fan's own projects. Both of us are self-taught artists who each hold a bachelor's degree in business, and we promise to keep making quality content and to continue to aggressively market our brand so no funds will go to waste. If we raise more than enough money, we will use whatever is left towards our next goal of purchasing the right exclusive rights to our "theme songs" which play in the intro and credits to most of our videos. These songs are $650 each and they will be the focus of our next kickstarter campaign if this one is a success. Once we own the songs we will be willing to share commercial rights to them as well with our kickstarter buddies. Thanks again to everyone!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The risks of this project include the ability of our two-man team to produce an animated video. Our experience with this as showcased by our website and our YouTube channel should provide the evidence that we can deliver a video worthy of using high-quality, professionally created background art.
As far as the delivery of our rewards: If for any reason you do not receive your copy of the artwork collection we will send it again until you get it!
Another complication may be designing a character for everyone that reaches the tier that includes the custom character art. Since the characters are clothes they cannot look exactly like the cartoon version of a person, but we are confident that we can create a character that will make you say "If I were magically turned into a shirt, I would be satisfied looking like THAT shirt!"
Also a challenge will be making a video using the character art for everyone that reaches the highest tier. We have created a system that allows us to plug in any of our characters and use any background to create an animated video. We are confident that our system will allow us to create a fun little video with your custom character and you will be free to share the video however you like. This would normally take someone awhile to create, but depending on our work schedules and the complexity of the character design we can generally get a video done in one week or less.
