Update #5: $35 tier has gone the way of the Dodo
Hi everyone! The continued support for this project has been overwhelming, and so we've come to some bittersweet news; the items in the $35 tier are all sold out! Bids are of course still being accepted, with the karma factor getting kicked up a notch now that there aren't any $35 tier gifts to dole out. The following stuff is sold out as well, but remember it only takes $30 to get a Dossier to call your own!

Update #4: Successes and Updates
Hey Everyone,
Congrats! We did it! We hit the $6,000 mark. Thanks to everyone who pledged their support. However, this does not mean we are done accepting bids. Your continuing support ensures that you can come away with our fantastic new dossier and also that this next Shearwater tour will be a great one.
For anyone pledging $100 and above. We have no more items in the $150 or $100 range. However, extra love will be given to any and all individuals who continue to pledge those amounts. So for everyone who bids $35 and above, here are the bonus items we have left as well as the ones we don't.

Update #3: Happy Holidays everyone! We'll be back at it in a week...
Hey everyone! First of all, we want to thank everyone who's backed this project so far... the overwhelming amount of support has been nothing short of inspiring.
Just to let prospective backers know, we'll be taking a much needed holiday break this week. Nothing will change, really... everyone's bids will still be accepted and kept in order, so the appropriate gifts get to the appropriate people, but we just wanted to let anyone who had a question for us know why there would be a delay in the response. Still, ask away, and there will be a thoroughly satisfying answer awaiting you come Monday. Happy Holidays!

Pledge $100 or more and receive any one of the $35 gifts, any one of the $50 gifts, and one of the following original Shearwater artifacts or CDs (available until otherwise noted): (1) Rook studio notes: a set of tracking sheets, elaborately and inscrutably color-coded, denoting the completion of various tracks and instruments. These sheets hung on the wall in the studio during the making of Rook and were much scribbled-on. Also included are a set of track sheets from one of the master reels, and a score for the song “Home Life” used by the string and wind players during the session. (2) EMM notebook: A handwritten notebook kept by the band during the making of the second album. Full of drawings, lyrics, and production notes. Also crammed with press clippings and other ephemera from the earliest days of the band. (3) The Dissolving Room CD, the rare first Shearwater album, recorded in three days in an abandoned building (now demolished) in 1999. (These are the last remaining copies from this pressing).

Hailed as "almost impossibly majestic and beautiful" (NPR), Shearwater's Palo Santo (2007, Matador), a suite of ethereal but disquieting art-rock centered around the life and death of the singer Nico, marked the Texan quintet's debut on the national stage. The New York Times named the album one of the year's best, and the band's singular combination of sonic abandon and restraint drew comparisons to late-period Talk Talk and Eno's early solo work. Last year's much-lauded Rook (2008, Matador) took the band into realms both richer and stranger, with a depth and grandeur that seem improbably packed into the album's tidy 35 minutes and a haunting examination of the continuing erosion of the natural world.
Shearwater's third album for Matador, The Golden Archipelago, is set for release in the US on February 23, 2010. This time, the band have created a lush, fevered portrait of life on islands, based partly on Meiburg's extensive travels to remote places, and the depth and clarity of their previous albums adorns a fierce new urgency and wildness. In conjunction with the release of Shearwater’s new album, The Golden Archipelago, singer Jonathan Meiburg and designer Mark Ohe have assembled a beautiful, full-color, 75-page, 8 x 10.5” dossier as a companion piece (which is only available for purchase here on Kickstarter).
