"King of Fitness” is a comedic script written by Andrew T. Pitkin and Shawn M. Smith set to begin shooting at the end of October 2012. This is a passion piece for both of us allowing us to illustrate our talents as both writers and producers.

Graham Tyler is a late 20s slacker whose life has fallen apart. He just needs the signature of the former love of his life so that the one thing he has done well, his epic action film “King of Fitness,” can be released.  Setting out with a pair of loveable and loyal friends, Graham heads off to find her and begins the final step of getting his film (and maybe his life) in order.

Examining the shenanigans that can come up in the world of low budget filmmaking, the series has brought together a number of highly creative and talented people including Michael Anderson, Matthew Bayer, Kiera Capitanio, Dawn Collet, Brandon deSpain, Jameson LaMarca, Josh Miller, Emma Orelove, Joe Ortlieb, Mark Parker, Cynthia Shaw, Shawn M. Smith, Christopher Whalen and Kevin White.

Our episodic movie will be edited and formatted for the web as a weekly syndicated series and will be filmed in Park Slope, Brooklyn, but this goal can only be met with your help.

Why Kickstarter?
At the heart of it all, “King of Fitness” is about the quest to complete an independent film. Crowd source funding is one of the best ways for us to get the word out about the series.  We also want to incentivize the filmmaking experience our contributors.  We’re all in this together.  

What's the funding for?

We need this to fund the production of the series.  The first round of capital helps us to kick start our production so that we can feed the cast and crew, rent our primary locations and make this dream of ours into a reality.  A $100 donation will help us feed the cast and crew for a day. $500 will buy half of our props for the entire shoot.  Even the smallest donation can help.  We're not asking you to donate every penny you have for our cause; we humbly ask for your support at even the smallest level.  Every donation helps.

10/25: We DID IT!

Update 10/22: 95% and Some Action!

We've made it to 95% of our funding and have gotten through our first day of shooting.  Hooray!  As a treat for all you of you, and a last minute plea for your help, here's a sample of what "King of Fitness" has to offer as Dolph gets into "killing mode".

Update 10/21

Today's the big day!  We start shooting here in Brooklyn and we're all super excited.  Some other news we're excited about: we're 84% of the way to our goal.  So close it hurts.  Spread the word.

Update 10/20

6 days to go.  Wow, that month went quickly.  Great news all around as we get closer and closer to our goal.  We're at 82% as I write this and we're excited and hopeful that we will meet our goal soon.  Tomorrow we start filming here in Brooklyn and we're beyond excited.  Don't forget, we've got another incentive to take advantage of - the on-set visit and signed script!  That also comes with the two t-shirts, the DVD, the digital download, the buttons, stickers and window and a hug from Andrew (the director!).  A complete package of awesome.

Update 10/17:

We're getting down to crunch time and we need your help. We've done so well so far and appreciate every penny, nickel and dime that each and every one of you has contributed so far. Let's get over that last hurdle and past that finish line together!

Where’s "King of Fitness" going to be broadcast?
We want this show to be out there for all to see so that we have the widest visibility to our cast while also showcasing the efforts of our talented crew. A number of shows like “The Guild” have originated in this way and we feel it’s the best of both worlds. On top of making it available on the internet, we’ll also be pressing the series to DVD, offering standard and high definition versions of the series, for your digital devices.  The initial plan is to get it out on the various social media channels and drive viewers.
