My name is M. Amanuensis Sharkchild (I go by Sharkchild) and I am a writer of horror and fantasy fiction and a visionary of a lost book form. With your support, I would like to self-publish two powerful, hardcover installments of thought-provoking and awe-inspiring horror with the second and third volumes of my short story collection called The Dark Verse. These installments will not be regular books; they will be works of art, full of chilling contents encased within mesmerizing form, appearance, feel, and quality.

The Dark Verse is my growing collection of Lovecraft- and Poe-like short stories written with the sole purpose of sharing with you a unique world of horror and fantasy that will follow you to the visions of your sleep.
In October 2007, The Dark Verse started as a podcast through which I would write, record, and narrate my stories. After receiving positive feedback and retaining the inspiration and motivation needed to churn out more and more stories, I decided to self-publish the first 26 stories of the collection as a volume one book entitled From the Passages of Revenants (The Dark Verse, Volume I). This ambition came to fruition in 2009. The book was well embraced by reviewers and the public and came in as a silver medalist in the category of Horror in the 2010 Independent Book Publisher Awards.

Almost three years later, and with 52 more stories completed, it is time for me to bring to book-life the second and third volumes of The Dark Verse. Only with your help can this be possible. The titles of these installments will be In the Blood of Sylphs (The Dark Verse, Volume II) and Upon the Relics of Undines (The Dark Verse, Volume III).
These next two volumes will be created with the same amazing features as the first volume (the same theme, look, quality, and feel) including:
- Imitation leather hardcover (red for volume II and blue for volume III)
- Foil stamping (black for volume II and gold for volume III)
- Black dusting on all three sides of the pages
- Thick, 80 lb. paper
- Full-color endsheets
- Cosmic artwork for the cover, endsheets, and each of the stories by John F. Stifter
Including the above, the funds from this project will also be used for:
- Proofreading and copy editing
- Promotion (sending out galley proofs for reviews)
- Rewards
All of the book rewards will be delivered at the same time (estimated to be December 2012), but some of the higher tier rewards may be sent in a second, later shipment (i.e. the one-of-a-kind posters, the handwritten stories, and the handwritten books).
