***SECOND GOAL*** - OKAY, SERIOUSLY...WE'RE BLOWN AWAY! We had no idea that we would reach out goal in ONE DAY! WHAT?? We set our goal at $10,000 hoping that it would help us get close to the $35,000 we need to get to show at the festival. We thought that was impossible. Truth be told, we thought if we got to 10k that maybe a couple of private investors would come in and match the rest. We felt like that was our only hope. BUT NOW WE KNOW DIFFERENTLY! THE OUTPOURING OF LOVE AND SUPPORT FOR THIS FILM HAS BEEN INCREDIBLE.

We feel confident that we can make it together! HOPE IS RESTORED!! We will do our part and continue to provide cool rewards, copies of the DVD and original poster artwork by Uprising Creative. Bob Forrest is helping us gather up some cool treats to add to the list so that we can keep going. Maybe we could even fly Thelonious Monster to Austin!!

WE WERE ASKED A FEW QUESTIONS THAT WE'D LIKE TO HELP ANSWER.

1. "Why isn't Bob giving you money? Isn't he rich?" - Good question. We are sure that Bob would have loved to contribute, but he is the subject of the film, not a producer of the film. He has been a kind contributor of his life and time, but not of money.

2. "Will you ship internationally?" - The answer is yes! We will ship internationally.

WHAT'S THE FILM ABOUT : Six years in the making, this documentary film follows outspoken indie-rock hero Bob Forrest, through his life-threatening struggle with addiction, to his transformation into one of the most influential and controversial drug counselors in the US today. BOB AND THE MONSTER crafts contemporary footage, animation and compelling interviews with archival performances and personal videos from Bob's past to reveal the complex layers of this troubled, but hopeful soul. Testimony from his peers, including Courtney Love, Anthony Kiedis and Flea add texture, but it's the depth of Bob's music, interwoven throughout the film, that illuminates this unforgettable and inspirational story.

WHY ARE WE HERE: If you've made it down to this second paragraph then you may be interested in hearing more about BOB AND THE MONSTER and why we are here on Kickstarter. My name is Keirda, I am the director and producer of the film. My husband and I started this project in 2004 and have seen it through the past six years on our own dime (and the dimes of some amazing friends!), plus massive dedication from the many people who have collaborated on the film over the years and generously donated their time and talent.

Last month we got the call that BOB AND THE MONSTER was invited to World Premiere at the SXSW Film Festival this March. This is a very exciting call to get! But it is also very sobering, because we have to cover the hard costs to finish the film - online, music rights, archival clearances, sound mix, etc.  We have continued to find favors, but these real world costs are now unavoidable.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Very simple. Donate. We need your help! Bob Forrest, as well as other cast members, are on board to help us raise the money by donating some VERY attractive rewards.
