Hi, I'm Seth Harwood, your friendly neighborhood podcasting fiction writer. I graduated from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 2002 and then in 2005 I went rogue in two ways: 1) I started writing CRIME and 2) I started giving away my work for FREE as mp3 podcasts (serialized audiobooks, basically) though my website, Podiobooks.com, and iTunes.
Since that time, I’ve had a winding, interesting and varied path through publishing. This year I’m ready to try releasing several titles as eBooks and through Print On Demand. I’m using this Kickstarter campaign to raise funding for the fixed costs of bringing these books to the marketplace.
In publishing today, authors can do much of the hard work and heavy lifting—even, especially and increasingly marketing and promotion—but several craft jobs remain items to outsource. These include: copy-editing, proofreading, cover design, and layout. I want to bring out five titles in the next six months or so, and these services will cost money.

Yes, all copied of THIS IS LIFE (PB and HC) will be signed by me and numbered. Be sure to include the name you want me to sign to in the field as you check out. All numbering will be done in a first-come, first-served basis, with the lowest numbers going to those folks who order closest to 12PM EST/9AM EST on Sept. 8, 2011.
Oh yeah, I should mention that all these books will be signed and personalized! It's just the JP2: This Is Life ones that'll be numbered.

Well, it's because of the economies of scale in printing of books. Because I'm not printing a huge number of copies of THIS IS LIFE (less than 1,000), basically no regular printer will touch this project. (If you know of one, tell me.) That leaves me to use Print on Demand printers to produce the books. Only one company, Lulu, prints hardcover books by POD, and they charge a premium price for it. I like print on demand, and see it as the way to go from here on out, but these hardcovers are expensive. So... that's the deal. If you've got a more specific question or some form of bartering or haggling to offer, email me directly. (This offer does not apply to David De Zwirek. Good question. First, the story and content from Czechmate is included in this print version of THIS IS LIFE -- both paperback and hardcover. From there, the eBook of TIL will be just the content from that podcast (revised and edited, of course). This eBook drops in October. CZECHMATE will drop as a separate eBook all its own in November. These'll be cheap and if you donate here, you'll even get rebates from me to buy them! (See FAQ about eBooks.)
