Hi, we are James “DrZ” Zdaniewski and Matt Hebermehl, two artists living and working in Savannah, GA. A year ago we set out on a mission to increase the presence of murals in Savannah because we felt murals would help strengthen the cultural influence of the local creative community. In order to do this we worked with local property owners and city government to create city approved guidelines and space to paint murals.

Through hard work, persistence and patient navigation of bureaucratic red-tape we have recently been granted permission from the city of Savannah to oversee a wall designated for murals at 34th and Habersham Street. We’re calling the wall “See Savannah Art Walls,” or “SeeSAW”. SeeSAW is the first wall of its kind in the city!
SeeSAW will organize, coordinate and fund positive, Savannah-centric themed murals in the public domain. We actively seek artists, neighborhoods and property owners willing to work together with responsible process in order to foster an environment where public art thrives and promotes a sense of pride and civic unity.
We’re trying to raise $5,000 to fund materials, artist compensation, and documentation of each mural at 34th and Habersham Street. The murals will rotate on a quarterly basis.

Boring, Blank and ready for Paint: The SeeSAW Wall at Habersham and 34th Street, as it stands now...
Through the physical visibility of the wall, time-lapse videos, lectures, and social media SeeSAW will serve as a platform for the Savannah creative community to engage and connect on a local, national, and international level.

SeeSAW has scheduled Savannah artist and former SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) professor Katherine Sandoz to create and execute the inaugural painting at 34th and Habersham. Featuring an abstract landscape of our cherished coastal landscape, the wall’s being painted marks a first for public art in Savannah. We thank property owner Alex Grikitis, who is graciously offering his property for SeeSAW and Savannah artists’ use stating: “This is a big step forward for Savannah... we are happy to lend our wall to help”.
Thank you for your support!
