Update #5: Thanks for your support
Update #4: 3 more days
Thanks to all of you for your support. We are down to the final weekend and there is still a way to go. Please help spread the word.
I had the good fortune to attend a talk last evening on the UCSC campus by Dr. Sylvia Earle, legendary oceanographer and explorer.
Named the first "Hero for the Planet" by Time magazine, Earle spoke on "Oceans, Life, and Survival." She has been a National Geographicexplorer-in-residence since 1998.
I am now heading over to a private reception in her honor at the home of Fred Keeley, former CA State Assemblyman and environmentalist. It is a benefit for the National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center that is opening in Santa Cruz this summer. SeaweedArt cards are slated to be sold in the gift shop.
Cheers,
Beth

Coming down the home stretch with a lot of ground to cover. Three more days.
Now is the time everyone, make a pledge and pass it on.
Crowd funding takes a lot of people to pledge, like is nice and that helps, but we need the masses to pledge a little.
Thanks for Crowding in with Beth.

Update #2: Comin' Down the Home Stretch
Thank you for your support and generous pledges. As you can see from my numbers, I am still a long way from my goal, so I still need your help. Please send this link http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/seaweedart/seaweedart to your friends, colleagues, family and social network and ask them to join you in this cause. Remember, 10% of the profits from the sale of SeaweedArt are donated to ocean conservation. Thanks again!

I am a nature artist and ocean lover living in Santa Cruz, CA. My favorite medium is seaweed, which I press onto paper to create unique, abstract collages.
I first fell in love with the ocean as a child spending my summers in Cape May, NJ. As an adult, I was lucky to move to the world famous surf town of Santa Cruz, CA. Here in this temperate climate I gardened year round and took up the hobby of pressing flowers. When I discovered you could do the same thing with seaweed I was hooked.
I believe that nature and art meet when the variety of seaweed’s colors, shapes and textures naturally lend themselves to artistic expression. SeaweedArt is a gift from the sea. I hope that by sharing my love of the sea with others, they too will experience my passion for the sea.
