Minimalist silk screened posters to celebrate 30 years of the most innovative Disney park.
October 1, 1982 - This was the day EPCOT Center opened its doors at Walt Disney World in Florida. Originally planned as an entire futuristic city, this innovative theme park was a gamble. Nothing like it had ever been attempted before. It was a display of everything the natural world has to offer, everything humans are capable of, and what the future holds. It was also one of the most well designed and interesting places on earth.
One of my favorite parts of EPCOT Center was the logos that designated each pavilion. They were as basic as could be, stripping down a broad idea into a simple symbol. I wanted to celebrate this, so I expanded each logo into a fully fleshed out work of art. A simple line art drawing turned into a full color poster.
My main EPCOT Center poster combines all 10 of the other posters into a celebration of everything the original park stood for. For the 30th anniversary, I wanted to do something special. I turned the colors of each pavilion node into a silver, looking like a plaque dedicated to the history of EPCOT. The prints will be silk screened with metallic inks to catch the crispness of every detail and create a special type of print not available anywhere else.
“Creating art is one of the most rewarding things a person can do, but if no one sees it, what is the point?” - Stephen Christ(me)
I have often said this when thinking about all the work I have done in the studio. So much of my artwork is known only to myself and handful of others. What good does that do? Art is meant to be shared with the masses. It is meant to inspire, connect, and touch people on a level only art can reach.
So when I first created my set of EPCOT posters, I knew I had to get it out there somehow. I have sold a handful of these posters online for a little over a year now, and I have received some amazing stories about how my designs have connected with people. I want my designs to continue to reach more people and continue to inspire them. These posters mean something to me, and I know there are others out there that have not seen them that have that same interest as me.
I am starting this Kickstarter campaign to get my posters out into the world. I want more people to own my work, and this is the perfect venue to offer my posters at a more manageable price. Any of the rewards on here are a great value compared to how much my posters have sold for prior to this. I hope that with this campaign I can also get a little inventory built up to enter into art fairs and contests. My ultimate goal is to be accepted into Disney's Festival of Masters that showcases the best Disney artists around the world. This is a goal for further down along the line, though. Getting some posters printed and out to the masses is the first step.
The 30th anniversary prints that this campaign is really about will be 15.4"x24" 5-color silk screened prints on high quality French paper with metallic inks. They will also be numbered and signed by me!
The other posters from my "Experimental Poster Compositions of Tomorrow" set will be high-quality giclee matte prints, also 15.4"x24"
Updates will be for backers only. I will post some of the process I went through in designing the prints, and give everyone a glimpse of how I do the things I do.
The plan is to get everything sent out in time for the 30th anniversary of EPCOT on October 1. If I hit my funding goal before the end date, I will be able to start sooner and get prints and postcards out to people sooner, so spread the word quickly!

Thank you for any support you can offer! I want to share my designs with the world, and I want to celebrate my favorite Disney park's 30th anniversary in a unique way. I look forward to getting lots of posters printed!
Disclaimer: This project and my designs are not associated in any way with The Walt Disney Company or Epcot theme park.
All of the posters offered here will be 15.4" x 24". If that size does not fit into your decor, there are a bunch of other sizes and papers offered at Imagekind where I sell my posters normally. You can get them here: http://www.scbb11Sketch.imagekind.com
The postcards will be a standard 4"x6" size.
Yes, but not with this campaign. I have tshirts, stickers, and iPhone cases at my RedBubble site here: http://www.redbubble.com/people/scbb11Sketch
