SCANDY is designed to turn your smartphone into a powerful portable scanner.
Technically, scanning a document or even a 3D object is the same as taking a photo of it. The camera lenses built into smartphones have become ridiculously powerful. What makes it difficult to scan a paper with your phone is the challenge of holding it still while at the time trying to keep it at perfect distance to the paper.
This is where SCANDY comes in. Our telescopic mechanism allows you to infinitely adjust to different paper sizes. The slick, minimalistic design approach of SCANDY will definitely "catch your eye" and help you "catch up" around the office or at home.
Passion for Creativity - Being creative endorses productivity and vice-versa. We strive to create and are truly addicted by the feeling of the big and small accomplishments one can have. Life is too short to waste time! SCANDY does the job 10 times faster than a traditional scanner.
Social Vision - The existence of social crowd funding gave us the courage to believe that we can make our vision of the social productivity gadget SCANDY become reality. Social means sharing and SCANDY is designed to facilitate sharing around the globe.
Digitalizing a drawing, a conceptual sketch, an office document or a 3D prototype to quickly email, fax, or store it is something we all do. We aim to make that easier, faster, and more efficient for people.
Pro Education - It is our belief that accessible quality education makes the world a better place. SCANDY marks the beginning of a new era in teaching. On video mode the teacher can record a lesson that simultaneously captures the pencil strokes and the audio comments.
Green Light - At Team Scandy we are fascinated supporters of progress of the art, science and industrial achievements of mankind. At the same time we are conscious of the responsability we have towards the generations coming after us. In the process of manufacturing, distribution and disposal one single traditional scanner creates more environmental stress than 500 SCANDYS.
Our Rewards - We offer two main versions of the SCANDY which are both fully functional but differentiate in design and materials.
The SCANDY for a $40 pledge. Update: You will get a premium SCANDY.
The SCANDY + Cool iPhone 4 Stuff for a $80 pledge. Update: You will get a premium SCANDY + Cool iPhone 4 Stuff.
Contains: car charger, data cable, suction cub car holder, screen protector, data port protector with capacitive stylus function, bike mount, bumper.
The Premium Limited Edition SCANDY for a $100 pledge. Update: The 100 USD Pledge option has been removed for the moment as we feel it was not offering enough value to our backers. Now all SCANDYs will be the premium version.

We are thrilled to have a first retail partner in Germany which is the leading online shop for mobile phones and mobile phone accessories www.telefon.de (Telefon is German and means phone). Telefon.de will retail SCANDY for 39,90 EUR. (53.88 USD).

SCANDYLUS is produed in cooperation with the brand twins.ch. We are planning to use the sample quality stylus than the Twins Multipen. The twins multipen currently retails for 22,90 EUR (30,94 USD) on amazon.de and other online and offline shops.

Our funding goal is calculated in a way that it will be just enough to pay for the toolings and the parts to run the first production run and some very slim left-over for the shipping cost.
The most expensive part of the production will be the tooling cost for the injection moulded parts with slightly over 10.000 USD. We than have to pay for the plastic parts itself, the aluminium tubing and the assembly. To this we add the cost the capacitive stylus and for the shipment to our backers. This all together brings us slightly north of 14.000 USD which is the amount we will be getting after deductions for Kickstarter and Amazon Payments.
I think it is important to know that we did not include any margin or compensation for our work into the funding goal. It really goes all into the product for our backers.

The SCANDY platform has a high friction non slip material that ensures your smartphone is zeroed in and on target while capturing scans. But just in case your worried, we have a spring loaded self adjusting clamp for those who need that little extra sense of security.

Good eye! this was by design, it takes about 20 grams of force to capture an image. The 60 degree angle of the SCANDY allows for a built in "friction fit" that eliminates the need for a locking mechanism.

Kevin, Urs & Sebastian
As cross-boarder team with Kevin from USA, Urs from Switzerland and Sebastian from Germany we are dedicating our project to the idea of international cooperation and unity between countries in general and the long history of friendship and support between the USA and Europe in particular.
Urs holds a Diploma in Mathematics from ETH Zürich. When Urs is not working on SCANDY, he designs surf kites and works in engineering of high performance motors for race cars.
Sebastian holds a Masters Degree in International Business from City University London, UK and a Dipl. de Grand Ecole from ESCP Europe. Sebastian works in Accessories for portable consumer electronics.
Kevin is an experienced entrepreneur, inventor and a widget guy. With years of experience in the Home improvement industry, many of Kevins' projects are designed to make life easier for professional contractors and home owners likewise. Kevin is a leading expert on telescopic mechanisms.
