We want to finish and fire our first batch of original tiki mugs by the end of summer - Skulls, Barnacles and Berserkers!
Scallywag Ceramics is Jon Hansen and Grace Cherubino, based out of Worcester, Massachusetts. We are looking to complete our first batch of tiki mugs. Funds will go toward the purchase of clay, slip, glazes, plaster, supplies, bats, clay tools, promotional items and most importantly a kiln share membership.

At this point, we have created over two dozen skull mugs, Beserker mugs, Barnacle Beach mugs and over a dozen Barnacle shot glasses. We haven't yet glazed or fired any of our mugs yet.

Good question, glad you asked! Here's the plan right now... We're continuing to pour and cast our first run mugs; The Scallywag Skull, Mug of the Berserker, Bar Harbor Barnacle and Barnacle Mini. We're just about done with that part of the job. Around June/July we are going to join a kiln-share in Worcester to be able to bisque fire, glaze and do a final firing of our mugs. Once they're all done (and at this point we're probably over 100 mugs) we will get our generous backers their rewards first. We're in the process of creating a few different coasters for you to vote on, which we'll throw on our Facebook page.
Once all the backers' shipments go out, we're planning on having a mug release party event tied into some great music at a yet-to-be-determined locale in Worcester, MA. This way, we can get our product out to our own community first. This will most likely be around August and again, we'll post all the details. We see it going something like this: Our booth will be up, customers can purchase their choice of mug from us and bring it to the bar to have a specific mixture made for that mug, or your own libation. Of course, you can take it home too.
Once this event is over, we are going to list the remaining mugs for sale on our eBay store. Most mug-hunters prefer eBay to other store sites, so we're thinking that will be a good choice for us. Timeframe-wise, that should be around August/September.
There are some other craft fairs and festivals that we may choose to be a part of as well, so stay tuned for details. The only place in Worcester that you can purchase mugs RIGHT NOW is Grime, located at 100 Grove St. Last we checked, there are two skulls and one Shock the Monkey artist proof mug there...first come, first served; $25 each!
We are in discussion to cast some high fire mugs after this first batch is up, as well as creating more designs for future release.
