About this project

sup ya'll
Okay, so first of all, I can't really write this in the third person, because I'm not very good at that. So I'm Satellite High, and I'm a hip hop artist from San Francisco, California. A lot of you may be familiar with the work I've done in the past, from my previous albums and mixtapes to weird projects like "The Dad Rock EP", and once again I'm here with another chunk of new music.
At the beginning of this year, I released a record called "Look At The Mess You've Made" -- a collaborative effort with a production group called Madd Caesar -- Nero Caesar and Madd Hatter. The response so far has been great, the record turned out incredible, and you can check it out over at bandcamp if you haven't already, as well as my six other free digital releases.
Putting out albums on the internet is cool, for sure, but a lot of people have asked me over the years when they'll be able to pick something up on vinyl. My answer has always been "I'm not sure if I'm ever gonna do that," but mostly because I wanted to do it in a way that made sense to me.
so check it

So I'm here to ask your help funding a very limited run of 12"s containing this rad new album. I'm only going to be pressing these to fill the order, each will be hand-numbered and stamped, and the artwork is going to be made and printed by me in a very DIY process. You can also expect some amount of other random shit; I come from an era of 'cool stuff in the record sleeve' and I definitely wanna pass that along to all of you.
the nitty-gritty
here are something you would probably like to know:
- the amount i'm attempting to raise is for barebones black 150g vinyl records. not lathe-cuts, not acetate, actual vinyl records. if i raise more money, it will be used to fulfill additional orders, or to go for some rad extras like colored vinyl, or a heavier pressing -- not to buy pot and video games. even though i really want to.
- all packaging will be lovingly prepared by me -- all records will be numbered by hand, labels will be stamped by hand, and the actual sleeve will be prepared in some sort of unique and hand-made fashion that will probably involve silkscreening and possibly twine.
- if you are not in the us or canada, i'd like to ask that you add $5 to your pledge to cover international shipping. i can't force you to do this, of course, but it would make me like you a whole lot more, and grumble less as i am assembling your package.
- yes, the album is already recorded and it's actually even available on bandcamp as a free download, so you can assure yourself that this is an actual album and not musical vaporware. it exists already. we're just trying to make it tangible.
- yes, your money will be returned if the goal is not met, and we will all go home sadder, but not lighter in the pockets.
so hey thanks
Basically, this is a cool opportunity to own an incredibly limited run of vinyl, to support independent music, and you get some pretty dope music out of it as well. With your help, we'll be able to start pressing these records by late February, and all will be well with the world. Thanks for stopping by.

Yup, they sure do. You're safe. If you're international (i.e. not in North America) please be a cool person and add five bucks or so to cover international shipping.
-
The pressing of a record, stickers, and shipping. This amount doesn't include recording costs -- we've already finished. We're not asking you to fund the recording process, only to help out with the manufacturing.
-
Early-to-mid March 2012 for tangible objects -- although the mp3's have been available since January 3rd!
-
If we raise more money, we'll press cooler records. The $1000 price point is pretty bare-bones, black vinyl, standard weight. If we raise more, we'll be looking into colored records, picture discs, cool bonuses, stuff like that. That's the long and short of it. But maybe a 12-pack, too, for when we're stuffing envelopes. Can't really promise that sort of restraint.

Too tight.

Funding Successful
This project successfully raised its funding goal on February 10.
Pledge $4 or more Pledge $4 or more
A sticker of your choice (Satellite High or Madd Caesar), both of which are hella cool so it's going to be a hard decision.
Pledge $8 or more Pledge $8 or more
A set of two, count 'em, two stickers. A Satellite High sticker to wow the kids, and a Madd Caesar sticker to scare your enemies.
Pledge $16 or more Pledge $16 or more
Both stickers and an extremely clever (possibly derogatory) shout-out on twitter, as well as a hearty handshake or awkward hug should our paths ever cross.
Pledge $28 or more Pledge $28 or more
LIMITED EDITION VINYL! Who doesn't love records? Nobody, that's who. This package includes a numbered 12" vinyl LP, an exclusive download of the album in mp3 format, and two stickers (just like everyone else, don't feel left out.)
Pledge $50 or more Pledge $50 or more
This is our first big-time supporter package and it includes a copy of the numbered 12" record, signed by myself and both members of Madd Caesar. But, and here's the cool part, by donating at this level, you'll get your name in a special thank you section of the album's liner notes, that everybody will see! It's sort of like buying a star from an observatory except way more rad. You'll also get two stickers and a download of the record.
Pledge $100 or more Pledge $100 or more
Holy crap, if you donate at this level you are basically the best person in the world. And to show our appreciation, you will be shouted out in the liner notes and much gratitude will be expressed. I will record a song about your legendary act of benevolence and provide it to you in the digital format of your choice. You can put it on your voice mail or something. Of course, you'll also get the signed record, the download, and two stickers.
Pledge $10,000 or more Pledge $10,000 or more
Satellite High and Madd Caesar will write a breakup song for your soon-to-be ex-significant other and perform it on their lawn with a large, clunky boombox
