Budget and Commission Plan
The backer list is now finalized and I'm going through each group to get the info I need from them for their rewards. If I haven't gotten to your group yet, don't worry, I will soon.
The added benefit of the finalized backer list is that I know how much money I have to use for the project.
Budget
So, out of the $6,416, we have the following allocations:
- About $600 to Kickstarter and Amazon Payments
- Between $750 and $800 in backer rewards.
- $500 to Farewell to Fear. In exchange, all the art produced by that project will be available through Prismatic Art Collection.
- About $4,516 free for art we want to commission from the artists.
- 1 Color - 12" x 9" - $300 - An epic scene showing a diverse cadre of fantasy heroes (a rogue, fighter, mage and cleric) all being heroic together. This is effectively the "cover" of the Prismatic Art Collection.
- 4 BW - 12" x 9" - $800 - More epic scenes, but each focuses on one hero in their natural adventuring environment. One piece for the fighter, rogue, mage and cleric each.
- 30 BW Line Art - ~5" x ~8" - $2,500 - A series of full-body character designs showing fantasy heroes in action poses, isolated on a white background. These are going to be the workhorses of the collection, so no soft or gradient backgrounds. Keep shading limited.
- 8 BW Line Art - 3" x 3" - $400 - Head portraits of male/female characters in each class. These will be handy as in-game avatar icons or example character portraits.
Depending on what happens, we may need to deviate from the plan at times. Barring diversions, this plan would give us 43 pieces of art in addition to everything we get from Farewell to Fear and the 25 character portraits commissioned as backer rewards. That's a pretty awesome start!
This plan will let us commission artwork from about 40 different artists. My plan is to get commissions to the artists we've already evaluated in the next week or two and then start going through the rest of the list and do additional assignments after that. My hope is to do it in batches so Daniel and I don't overwhelm ourselves, especially since we're not taking any money for our time or energy. It will also be easier to handle the feedback from all of you that way. I hope that helps and thanks again for supporting this project.

Your adorable adventuring party. Daniel Solis will create cute avatars of your adventurers, in the same style seen in our Kickstarter video. These high-resolution, vector avatars will be included in the Prismatic Art Collection. Perfect for examples of play, call-outs and sidebars! Daniel will also record his process in a time-lapse screencast so you can watch your adventurers take shape. A very round shape.

I really like the prospect of this, and am looking forward to seeing all the artwork. :-) As there is no money set aside for webspace etc., I guess that's already covered somehow?

Daniel, yes. Each of the reward descriptions includes: "The character art will also be released to the Creative Commons under the same license as the rest of the artwork."

Ah, I was going to see if those of us who got character drawings could donate our pieces to the project if they were Prismatic compatible (like, say, my dark skinned female warrior), but it sounds like the plan is to include those in the work, already?

Hey, that is really exciting! ^_^
