Help make my dream come true! Two CDs of original music recorded by internationally renown musicians. Watch my video for examples!
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This project is to record many of the works written by composer/pianist Sanae Kanda.
Sanae is a pianist in the Boston area and originally from Kyoto, Japan. She received her Master and Doctoral Degrees from Boston University. She has written numerous audience friendly works since 1999, and only one has been professionally recorded. Recently the majority of Sanae’s works were published by Lami Musicworks and are now available for purchase.
Many people have been asking if a recording is available for years, especially of Sanae’s brass quintet music. Unfortunately the answer has been “no” due to the cost involved with such a project. Kickstarter provides the opportunity to release a two volume recording of Sanae’s music and also makes available professional audio samples for those interested in purchasing her sheet music.
The project will take place in three phases:
PHASE I (Kutztown, PA)
2 - Tuba-Euphonium Quartet pieces to be recorded by the Cosmopolitan Tuba Quartet www.cosmopolitanquartet.com
2 - Euphonium and Piano pieces recorded by Roland Fröscher, euphonium (Switzerland) www.rolandfroescher.ch and Sanae Kanda, piano (Boston, MA)
2 - Euphonium and Piano pieces recorded by Roland Fröscher, euphonium, Mike Milnarik, tuba (Boston, MA) www.milnarik.com, and Sanae Kanda, piano; the other recorded by Adam Frey, euphonium (Georgia) www.euphonium.com, Mike Milnarik, tuba and Sanae Kanda, piano
PHASE II (Boston, MA)
12 - Brass Quintet pieces to be recorded by INNOVATA www.innovatabrass.com
PHASE III (Albany, NY)
12 - Tuba and Piano pieces to be recorded by Mike Milnarik, tuba and Sanae Kanda, piano
2 - Solo Piano pieces to be recorded by Sanae Kanda
Many world class musicians are involved in this project that have performed as soloists; with the top orchestras in the United States and brass bands in Europe; and as part of world renown chamber groups.
But, we can’t do this alone.
There are an incredible amount of expenses involved with a project of this magnitude. Some of the expenses are: musician fees, recording engineer, mixing and mastering fees, album artwork, CD replication costs, most of the CD costs are times 2 due to this project being 2 volumes, travel costs for musicians, long distance travel costs for a couple of musicians (Switzerland and Georgia), Kickstarter fees, Amazon Payments fees, publicity and marketing, taxes and many other expenses. This project will cost more than $10,000, but the campaign is for $10,000 because if I don’t reach the financial goal I set on Kickstarter - no money changes hands and I get nothing. So $10,000 is the minimum I am trying to raise, but if my campaign is overfunded - the project continues and all donations will be put to good use!! So, your help is desperately needed to make this dream a reality. Unless this music is recorded many people will never know it exists - which means...”the buck stops here.”
Your generosity will help support the promotion of new music, the creation of future new music, future performances of this music, the opportunity for others to perform this music, the livelihood of very hard working professional musicians and so much more - just by helping us complete this recording and making it available to the world!
For this generosity we have tokens of our appreciation at various contribution levels. (Please see the right side of your screen on our project page.) We hope that you can help make this dream come true!
Sincerely,
Sanae Kanda, composer/pianist & Michael S. Milnarik, tuba player
