BUT CAN STILL USE YOUR HELP!: These boys aim shy'd a little on the low side of what it costs to record and put out a record, and any extra support they recieve for this project will not be frivolous, it will be put to good use.... it'll lend them a little more time in the studio, it'll make it possible for them to use decent quality vinyl (and enough of it), and it'll give them more options for album artwork and layout. So any help you can give to support these Tumbleweeds is much appreciated, and all the rewards they offer for your generosity still apply. -

Sam Doores & The Tumbleweeds have been touring North America, performing their original brand of country, soul, and old school Americana to audiences from Ontario to New Mexico to New York City to Mississippi. While not on tour, they have been honing their skills on the streets and in the dives of New Orleans, and chipping away at making their first record (using an old reel-to-reel and a couple cheap microphones.... ).
They have already made some decent low-fi recordings at home, but in order to get the job done right, they need some financial support: While they've almost reached their minimum goal of raising $1500 to help them record, produce, master, make album art, and cut and press the record onto vinyl, they could really use all they help they can get. As many of you know, making a high quality record is an expensive process, and any money that is donated to this cause will not be wasted. The more funding they get, the more time they have to spend in the studio, the higher quality vinyl they can use, and the better the overall record will be.
They will record these songs "live" and "stripped down" (but fully clothed...) in order to capture the feel and energy of the raw, high energy performances they're known for, as well as to help minimize studio costs. These recordings should have a warm, natural sound that's not too polished.
After all the tracks have been recorded, they intend to bring these tapes to Mark Bingham of Piety studios (local hero/pioneer in the new Orleans recording/engineering community) who will finish the mixes and ship them out to be mastered. Once the mastering of the record is complete, whatever is left of the money they raise can be used to make handcrafted album artwork and to cut and then ultimately press the record onto vinyl.
The finished product will be a real, down home, honest to goodness record containing Sam Doores & the Tumbleweeds' first batch of original songs as well as a few traditional songs they've arranged. A solid first album could really open a lot of doors for these boys and I know they whole-heartedly appreciate any help you can give.
