Stretch Goal #7: The Armory
The safety was nice while it lasted, but now its time to move on. We've had time to record our adventures thus far and Dark Heart of the Dreamer will now be in print for all backers pledging $25 or more.
Something dark is afoot, so it's best we arm ourselves as heavily as we can. Luckily there's an abandoned armory nearby, a forgotten echo of some ancient war. Strewn about the rusty blades and crumbled armor there may be something of value. Your pledges will help us search the room and arm ourselves for the battles to come.
When we reach $55,000 Adam and I will start work on our first event supplement for Dungeon World. The idea behind event supplements is that each one is more than just new compendium classes, moves, monsters, and the like: it's a themed collection that you can use to reflect some major event in your Dungeon World.
Our plan for the first event supplement is to bring war to Dungeon World. Two great armies clash across the land, countless minor lords and hopeful adventurers vie for glory, and amidst it all the common folk are left to hope the battle doesn't come to them. This supplement will be everything you need to bring this event into your game, or you can just use all the pieces (moves, monsters, equipment, and more) any way you like.
Since Adam and I have never attempted a supplement this large (in scope or content) we're not going to be able to guarantee the PDF will be available alongside all the other backer rewards. We want to put out something amazing to really show off the event supplement concept, so we're going to take our time: we're thinking the finished PDF would be available in September/October. All backers will get the event supplement PDF at that time (assuming we make our goal).

I just picked up a copy of the "Mass Combat" ruleset for GURPS, with precisely the notion that they might be amenable to adaptation to Dungeon World. Highly recommend taking a look at how they've modeled big armies, etc.
And I'm very excited to think you're working on it already!

Wow, was there ever a truly convincing and manageable large battle rule set? If you can pull this off, this would be amazing. A game changer so to speak. I can't start to think how it will be possible to incorporate landscape, strategics, magic, dragons and what have you in a set of rules that works with dice and paper. I really hope you know what you are doing!

Wow. This sounds truly awesome, and I really hope we get there. The really awesome part will be less the specifics of the supplement as the example of how to create something like this, and then we can make others for cataclysms, rebellion, plagues and famines, The Magic Goes Away/Comes Back events, wars in Heaven, unfolding prophecies...

Sounds really great and very understandable this will come later. So if you don't make the next stretch goal will this still come out in the fullness of time as a for purchase supplement?
