Panmnesia : the afterbirth
Hi everyone!
I have some nice photographs from the exhibit to share with you (courtesy of media extraordinaire, Daniel Herbertson). The evening was so incredibly lovely and I cannot thank everyone who enjoyed it with me enough. One backer came all the way from Sendai to be there (a 5 hr bus ride to Tokyo)! The gathering felt much like a celebration and, even better, a family reunion with so many loved ones surrounding me - in person, in thought, and of course in paint.
After the show, old friends and new all shared a few rounds at a local yakitori dive under the train tracks of Yurakucho across a long table to be followed by longer goodbyes. A timeless evening.
Here is a review of the show, by Kris Hartrum, which sums the night up much better than I could ever hope to : Silver Birds of Summer
I must say that during the reception I continually thought of all of y'all and Kickstarter, and what a wonderful way we have been brought together and have made art together. I love that the world has gotten smaller and ideas have gotten bigger. I think there is nothing more frustrating to an artist than having an idea and being unable to express it. Finances often offer that barrier and Kickstarter is one hell of a beautiful breach.
In conclusion, may I offer a candy coated gilded rent controlled cantilevered blonde on an ambrosial plate of whiskey and country ham sort of thank you. Thank you!
Many projects are on the horizon and I hope we can all work together some more.
All my love and thanks and unfathomably endless gratitude,
Sadie Ray
{ P. S. -
A book of the paintings from the show is available for purchase here. Thank you Sam Lemley!
Also, a little film is in the works about painting and my life in Tokyo. So keep an eye out!
