Dear friends, family, backers, and Queen Elizabeth II:

I failed. I didn't reach my goal of $6,500. But let’s have some perspective: 88 of my friends - and strangers - donated $2,492 to my Kickstarter campaign. That is simply amazing. I am genuinely in awe that people I’ve never met would show me such generosity. Thank you for reminding me that there is still plenty of goodness left in the world. I wish I could take every single one of you out to Sizzler.

However, the fact remains: my Kickstarter campaign failed. So what happens next?

“Are you going to run another Kickstarter campaign for Moderately Important Fables?”

No. Running a Kickstarter campaign consumed a considerable amount of my time, energy, and emotion, and I can’t do it again. I’ve decided to pursue alternative publishing options for Moderately Important Fables.

"Why don't you try again, but with a lower goal?"

Shut up.

“Are you still going to publish Moderately Important Fables?”

YES! Moderately Important Fables is absolutely still going to happen. However, instead of self-publishing the book, I’ve decided to pursue a more traditional publishing route; i.e. finding an agent, a traditional publishing company, etc.

“When will Moderately Important Fables be released?”

Probably not until 2013, realistically. Finding an agent for Moderately Important Fables could take anywhere from a few months to a few years, so it’s very difficult to say how long this process will take. I will definitely keep everyone posted.

“Can I still donate money or pre-order the book?”

At this time, no. I’m very flattered by the number of people who have offered me their money, but I wouldn’t feel right accepting donations, since I have no idea when Moderately Important Fables will be published.

“How will you notify me about the status of Moderately Important Fables?”

Unfortunately, the bookmarks, t-shirts, and limericks were only part of the Kickstarter campaign. I’ll still fly out to your city and take you to Sizzler, if you buy my plane ticket. Just pinky-promise me that you aren't a murderer.

Once again, I sincerely want to thank every single one of you for your overwhelming support and words of encouragement. To show my gratitude, I made a special tribute video, thanking all of my backers. I hope you enjoy it. And I dare you to watch it to the end.
