EMIS is a (GAAM) Game Art & Music show about fighting games. There will be Art, Music, Cosplaying, & GAMES! HADOUKEN!
How It Started
This project started out as just making a simple artbook/ collection, appreciating Street Fighter, and giving gamers something they could hang on their walls or put on their tables and point to it and say, "See that? Video games are more than just sitting in front of a TV. It's art!"
Over time, it's transformed into a Game Art And Music Show (GAAM), centered around Street Fighter and fighting games. This is going to be a great event, and start to show that these games, and our culture, are more than just blips on a screen. It's about pop culture, competition, the human spirit, memories, and friendships. (If it's a success, hopefully we can do another one regarding another game genre or title. :) )
How We're Going To Pull This Off
As for pulling it off, Iam8bit just put together an awesome show similar to this, and has shown us that this IS doable!
I've been creating the artwork for this event for the past 5 months, there are several other artists lined up, i've been looking at event venues (some of which are pretty awesome!), some live music options are lined up, we have a martial arts school ready to do some demos, and starting to talk to Cosplayers. I've even been talking to Insert Coin(s) out in Las Vegas, and they've expressed a lot of interest in the artwork.
The only things that are really left are finding some arcade machines and actually having the money to pay for the event location (event insurance, liquor license, etc.).
Hopefully Every Move Is Special book/artwork and your pledges will make this dream a reality. I know we can get this done! Thank you for your time, and keep on playing video games!
P.S.
In case it wasn't obvious... I LOVE video games. So much, that I make stuff like this instead of doing adult things...like mowing the yard and stuff. Shoryuken!
