Yes, it's true. This novel has a soundtrack:
music from and inspired by the novel Dick Cheney Saves Paris
Ah, but don't be so surprised. In our increasingly multi-media society, it's really not that uncommon to see artists connecting books and music (see Rules to Rock By, BadBadBad, Spanish Fly, Predators, and Invincible, among many others).
When you see such projects, most of them are put together by the novelists themselves. That is, the creators are creative people and so do not want to limit themselves to expressing themselves in just one way (such as a book) or another (such as a song or an album).
That's where music from...Dick Cheney Saves Paris differs from the novel soundtrack norm. Because I am not a talented musician. And I am not ashamed to admit it. Instead of steering clear of the album tie-in idea, I embrace the form as an opportunity to collaborate with an all-star lineup of talented musicians.
The tentative lineup features artists and bands from across the U.S. (from San Diego and L.A. to Cleveland, Ohio and Ithaca, NY and beyond) and from across a wide spectrum of styles (noise, folk, hard rock, acoustic, and more). To learn about a few of the acts you can expect to hear, click the links below.
Of course, there will be others--the final line-up is still being finalized. But expect a few surprises, as well. This album is one small way that I can help get the word out about these independent artists, so I hope you'll take a moment to check out several of the above.
By the way, the CD will be available in hard copy exclusively from Love Earth Music, and will also be available as a digital download, but if you back the project here on kickstarter, you can reserve your copy today (CD and digital versions are available to backers at various levels).

In addition to being an Aquarius and an ENTP, Ryan Forsythe is a writer, artist, editor, teacher, dad, and ex-hostel employee. Originally from Cleveland, he now lives in Southern Cal. Ryan received a Master of Arts in Teaching Writing from Humboldt State and is presently a student in San Diego State's MFA program in Creative Writing. He believes he is the only Pushcart Prize nominee in history to have won NFG magazine's "Great 69-er Award" (for best original 69-word story). His children's book (for adults), "The Little Veal Cutlet That Couldn't," is now available in some places where fine books are sold.
