New Round of Experiments
As the Rock Vibe wearable evolves, new experiments are conducted with new gamers and existing Rock Vibe testers. I thought I'd tell you what these experiments are about, so you can get an idea of how the development process works.
The experiments test for the best locations of the vibrating motors, optimal spacing between motors, correct amount of foam padding and optimal vibration intensity by timing players' reactions during a training and gameplay session. These sessions are concluded with a user survey to assess the comfort of the wearable and find out what gamers do and do not like about it. The survey consists of questions that are answered with numerical ratings (1-5) and freeform answers.
To perform the experiments, I use a computer program that sends out different combinations of on signals to the vibrating motors. Once the signal is sent, the program's timer starts, and the reaction time, in milliseconds, is logged for each button press. This experiment is conducted every time a change is made to the Rock Vibe wearable.
Experiments start later this month and will continue into next year. If you're in the Bay Area or Sacramento area, you're welcome to join in.
