Just a reminder that there are only 3 days left to get the word out about this project--my deadline for contributions is this Thursday, April 8! We spent Sunday recording piano tracks at the engineer Jon's apartment, and they came out great! The guys shut me into a tiny little alcove with a great-sounding upright and I kept my sunglasses on to channel Ray Charles (...and because I always do). We came back to the East Village studio late night to record vocals (still with sunglasses of course), and today we welcomed my friend Rachel Reef-Simpson from Hava Nashira, who came down from Boston to lay down some beautiful backing vocals on several songs. We had a great time with her this afternoon and we're finishing up the day with Bryan Dunn on guitar, who plays with me in Shwa's band. Tomorrow is the last full day...and a long one, going from noon to late at night. Enjoy these pictures of all our special guests and the makeshift piano studio!
