About this project
We are in the process of creating the "Live from Iowa EP." It will be an 8 track album featuring all new songs from our most recent concert series, December 2010 at Cafe Paradiso in Fairfield, IA. As a bi-continental band, we really enjoyed gearing up for those shows. We ended up collectively writing more than 10 new songs, in a few short weeks, collaborating mostly via email! With so much distance normally between us, it was a serious delight to dig into our souls and generate this new material, culminating in the performance of them and others for our community and hometown.
As a musical group, we have gone through so many genres and stages of what we could sing and perform. We started with traditional three-part folk songs, then discovered early jazz singing sister groups, followed by the conglomerate of cover songs featuring any form of harmony (from the Fleet Foxes to Radiohead). Eventually we began writing original material mirroring the wide variety of the music we had covered (which also included acapella mediaeval songs). Celebrating many genres, instruments, and even languages, our first full length, self-titled album, was the collection of these diverse and colorful tunes.
After a few more years of wandering the planet, self-discovery, and musical growth, we feel we have begun to find a music voice more deep and intimate to our true essence as a band. It has been quite the journey.
We are so excited that these new songs were recorded, and life has now brought us to a time and place where we could assemble them into a project resulting in an EP to document our musical landing zone, to be shared with everyone!
We are almost finished with the mixing, and will send it to be mastered very soon. Then directly on to the disc factory, and soon to land in a hand-printed CD sleeve featuring an original print created by Darla. We can't wait for the final product.
This seems to be a project on fast-forward, accommodating time, space and our far-reaching geographical positions. We are so excited to present the EP in two weeks, with all RPS members present, at our release party concerts! They will take place September 17th and 18th, at The Beauty Shop, in Fairfield, IA.
We need your help to meet our $1,000 goal in a very short period of just two weeks. All the funds will go to the skilled folk who labored on this, as well as the materials and costs needed to create physical CDs. Anything you are able to give will help us greatly. Thank you for visiting this page and for your support.

Although all three of us were born and bred on the Iowa prairie, we currently span 9 time zones. Miranda lives in California, Gemma lives in Iowa, and Darla lives in France. Whenever possible, we like to harmonize, write new songs, learn instruments, hang out, perform concerts, sing our hearts out, and occasionally we get a chance to record our music in some album form or another.
Thank you so much for listening. We really appreciate your support!
