A half year already passes. When do we get the official iOS app of tōd? Free BTLExplorer only picks up an electric wave. $2.99 BLExplr is not so useful, too. It is just a circuit board if without useful app.

@Mark S, thanks for the support! We can't be upset or blame anyone for being frustrated and angry over our overly optimistic, horribly missed reward shipment ETA. I dream of making a product... then every project I have backed reminds me that every project is essentially a start-up and there are lots of variables and factors that can slow down the whole process. I give you all kudos for not just giving up and for plugging on through the hard-times when you're not 'feeling the love'. I don't get how the closer things get to the end of the project, updates become so infrequent. The app should at least be in the AppStore by now. Not sure exactly how manufacturing slippage = software slippage. Just wish the transparency level was there.

Is this "LIMITED EDITION"? Is this a stamp on the PCB? This is a coin that was branded into a wood. It was very cheap, and I was disappointed. So, too bad.

Correct me if I wrong, but how come there has been no clear update to when the smart beacons will ship. I'm aware I am in phase three but how has this project slipped quietly and months past the est. shipping date. I'm also quite surprised to here the ios app won't be submitted until the end of the month. Im confused to why the shipping has slipped by three months with very little reference to when the bulk of the backers(phase 3) will receive there rewards. It looks like February is the new shipping address(hopefully the apple app approval process doesn't take to long). When will we be receiving an update. Come on guys

I got one of those woodburned chips. If they cost you anything more than a few pennies I wouldn't personally bother. Not much for us to do with them. I'd prefer you save the money for a bit of profit. But I am fine either way.

Hi Yukihisa, we did respond to your request via email. @everyone, as we have indicated, we are moving to change the stamped case as they didn't melt as cleanly as we had expected. Instead of the stamped case, we are looking at doing a hot branded wood chip using the same iron. We've seen this done on some other projects and thought it looked really good. Definitely better than where the hot stamping on the plastic case was going. Cheers!

@Corey, our Version 1 is going to have some messaging capabilities like you are requesting but to what extent we are still working on it. However, we will be continually updating and releasing new versions once we get past this initial launch.
I would encourage you and others to make use of our forums at http://opentod.org for making requests, offering ideas and submitting your tōd projects for everyone to be able to participate in the growth of our community.

@Dexter and Roberto, as of December 21st we have shipped out Phase 2 rewards to developers. We are frustrated, like all of you, but are moving as quickly as we can to get Phase 3 (the final complete app and firmware) and are at the mercy of some third parties as well. We are expecting have the final stable firmware released by the manufacturer by the end of the month and will be submitting the tōd app to the Apple Store at that time.

@Mark, I believe you are not inserting the board into the case correctly. Please refer to the Quick Start Guide immediately at http://opentod.org/uploads/QuickStartGuide.pdf. We placed the groove in the top side of the enclosure to allow space for the antenna to sit. Otherwise, you are at risk of breaking it off. :(
As for the batteries, we purchased enough for every beacon (and some) but unfortunately it is illegal to ship them via USPS internationally. Our intention was to provide everyone with enough batteries but only US backers will get them for now. We are expecting them to lift the ban soon.

Finally received my tod (Early Adopter, The Netherlands), must say that the first impression is a dissapointment. The build quailtiy of the enclosure is terrible, it doesn't open easy and it doesn;t close perfectly (tight close on one side, 2mm room on the other). Also think they should've shipped it with a battery, not with Tod stickers (product before marketing). Will start testing this weekend.

I am getting data from the tōd in BTLExplorer, so things look like they are working great. Am excited to see what apps get written for these. If anyone is taking requests, I would love to see one that sends an email or text message when it detects a tōd (so you could check when someone arrives at a location) or alerts on the phone when the tōd is out of range (so I can strap it to my daughter).

I just opened my Kickstarter Black & Green tōd. installed the battery, and downloaded and read the PDF from the Xmas project update #27. The two available iOS apps (BLExplr & BTLExplorer) do find and present data from the tōd successfully. I posted additional comments on the Support site as requested in the project update.

Thanks for the kind words Sean! We're glad you are enjoying your new tōd. Sorry to hear about the case. They are made out of ABS plastic and we have thrown them to the concrete in testing without breaking or cracking them. However, we did have them hot stamped to produce the logo color on the top section and in your case caused cracking and chipping. We had noticed on some where they may have applied heat for too long and could see the cracking and removed those from inventory. It was a very small number but the clear cases are harder to see the blemishes than the orange or black so unfortunately it must have slipped past our initial sorting. Again, we apologize and will send out a new case to you. Cheers!

Just received my clear Tod and thought I'd give some feedback. The device was well padded in a little pink bubble wrap bag and the box was completely undamaged. The CR2032 battery in the blister pack is in perfect shape. However, once I removed the bubble wrap, the actual Tod case has a chip in it, and under the surface, several cracks and bubbles in the structure are visible. Several of the cracks are on the edge making up the top of the threaded wall, so they seem like they'll likely worsen, although they're really only able to be felt if you're running your finger right across them or lightly rubbing a fingernail across them (ie, they come to the surface and can be felt, but aren't 'gapped'). Just a heads up. I can send photos if you need any. I'll get the battery loaded and start poking into the unit software wise soon, but wanted to shoot over my unboxing result ASAP in case this was completely unexpected and out of the norm. Nothing about the unit looks shabby, by any means, but the plastic production work could be improved a bit based on other products I've worked w/ using similar materials. Very happy to have it in hand to start working, tho! Thanks for a great kickstarter project. Nothing beats the minute you slide a 'new' product out onto your desk and know you helped get it going, even just a little bit!
