Joe and David, Thank you for your efforts on this project and although you've reached your goal I was happy to donate. I was actually looking for the Alabama SPCA website when I found your project and was hoping to find some help from them for our abused animals in my area. I still can't believe what a human being can do to an animal. I will be reading all of the comments below to see what helpful information I can find. Thanks again for your hard work and if I can help in any way please let me know. Linda

Joe and Dave,
Thank you for your commitment to this project - one that is long overdue. What a brilliant idea to reach out to the public, many of them rescuers and impassioned in their work for animals.
Education is an integral part of change and this documentary it could have a profound effect on the treatment of animals everywhere. I urge everyone to become a voice for animals by joining the League of Humane Voters in your state. You are a taxpayer and VOTER, and your legislators need to know the power that we 'animal people' have. www.lohv.org

Hi Joe & Dave, So excited that you've reached your prelim. funding goal. That's very encouraging that networking is working. I will follow your progress, and when you're ready to schedule your trip, will see if it's feasible for me to join you as a volunteer and get an inside look at the other end of the rescue spectrum.

This is something the Nation needs to see & know. I have worked w/ our local shelter in NC & other rescues to get animals to good homes. My rescues are now in WI, NJ, NY, SC & PA. It is totally depressing to go to the shelter & see an animal that you know is a great pet & know that it won't make it out alive. & You are so correct on it being a major problem in the South. When rescues from up North come to take animals up there to be adopted you know there is something terribly wrong. Thanks again for what you are doing. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
Creator Patty Petry on April 22, 2012
You might want to throw something in there about how hard no-kill rescues work to help kill shelters in the south, it takes a lot of gas money but you'll see a vehicle heading out from a kill shelter in Missouri, or Georgia etc whenever they can raise the money and find the drivers, getting a few dogs out at a time, up to the midwest or the NE where they will go into foster homes and have time to find a forever home

Thank y'all so much for making such a powerful film! I am from Tuscaloosa and I live in Montgomery. As a rescue advocate and animal rights activist-- Thank you for your voice. One step closer to better legislation and better enforcement.
Creator Tammie McInnis on April 20, 2012
Congratulations on reaching your Goal guys and I hope the Pledging keeps up! Those dogs deserve a better life! And Congratulations to everyone who participated in the project and those who donated funds. The world can be a wonderful place when we all work towards a good cause.

We have several of our rescue colleagues who have posted on their FB sites. We rescuers stick together pretty tightly, and support this project. You guys are getting close!
Creator Joe Olivieri and David Cowardin on April 19, 2012
Getting so close thanks to all the support! Thanks for sharing the video within your respective groups, it's been a big help! The past two days have been the best in terms of fundraising because of it.
Creator Jenny-Open Arms Rescue on April 19, 2012
(Jenny of Open Arms Rescue) I cannot wait until this comes out. Please folks "share" this on FB so people can donate to it. They only have 10 days left to raise the remaining $1300. Use the "widget" feature and share it in FB. We are a small breed dog rescue in San Deigo and are just thrilled to see this when it is completed.
Creator Ginger Geronimo on April 19, 2012
I live in Birmingham, Alabama. I am a huge animal lover & activist. I totally support what you are doing. The plight of the animals needs to be told & shown. We all need to do what we can to help animals. We are their voice!
Creator Brandy Munsell on April 18, 2012
I will only ever adopt rescues from kill shelters. I had one for 12 years. She was the best dog ever and after she passed my cat was as devastated as I was, so 5 days later we rescued another one, and almost a year later we rescued another dog. The work you are doing to bring awareness is awesome and I hope that it will educate.
Creator Joe Olivieri and David Cowardin on April 18, 2012
Thanks for all the support. With 11 days to go we are getting closer and closer to our goal! It would be so great for us to make another trip to Alabama. A local animal shelter will be donating dog food and kennels for rescuers that we meet. We are very hopeful that this trip will become a reality.
Creator Andrea Shaw on April 18, 2012
With all the wonderful rescue people cross posting this project's info, it looks like more backers are surfacing to help the project actually reach its financial goal!
Creator Andrea Shaw on April 18, 2012
Great footage & production thus far! I hope that the documentary is completed, and can be sent to network TV shows - maybe this will get aired! Lord knows that many/most states have the same or similar situations going on (that goes un-noticed, or the apathy is simply ignored), and the "light needs to be shed" on the plight of dogs (cruelty, puppy-mills, dog fighting, theft of dogs, and the thousands who are abandoned or dumped at shelters) all over the US - and the world.
Creator Candyce on April 18, 2012
In honor of my rescue OLIVER, who turned 13 today, I am supporting this project. Please share it with all. I spend countless hours everyday in recue. I also wrote a children's book, OLIVER, www.worldofoliver.com, and all profits go to rescue.
Creator Cheryl Janiszewski Tibbett on April 10, 2012
Great idea and I hope you can get the funding you need to bring this issue into more light! I have shared and shared this opportunity to all my rescue friends in hopes they will back this project also. best of luck!
Creator Sven Verluyten on April 8, 2012
I am not from the USA, but wish to support your project. There needs to be funding to help these animals on the spot, which your project won't do, but I am certain your project will have an impact on the long term by getting the attention of the people and government on this.

Thank you for doing this! I live in Alabama and am grateful that someone is focusing on the plight of our animals here. All my dogs were formerly abandoned and abused. Thank you for speaking up on their behalf, and on behalf of all the other animals that are still out there suffering in silence.

This is a great project! I volunteer with SOS Beagle Rescue in AL, and I think its great you guys are coming to our state! Let me know if you need anywhere to stay, we have fosters all over the state and I am in Birmingham...

I wish you all the luck in the world. We have 3 rescued Beagle mixes. Originally from Rhode Island, been down here since 1995. You're biggest obstacle will be, in my opinion, "you can't fix Alabama stoopid (mis-spelled on purpose).
Creator Peter Hollens on March 22, 2012
Best of luck to you all. If there's anything I can do to help spread the word let me know.
Creator Cindy Zembo Jorgenson on March 14, 2012
Thank you for bringing awareness to animal cruelty. I Hope your goal is reached.
I wish more people would give a rescue pet a home instead of paying animal breeders for high priced animals. 3 years ago I adopted a little dog nobody wanted. She wasn't perfect. Well guess what? She's perfect for our family.
Creator Sandra Nathan on March 9, 2012
Thank you Joe and David for traveling to Alabama to share your talent in this important film. Alabama Voters for Responsible Animal Legislation (AVRAL) was honored to be included in the film. Alabama animal advocates, rescuers and the animals are grateful to you. Can't wait to see the finished film - Alabamians' donate what you can. This film couldn't be more important to you or the animals of Alabama.
Creator Valerie Burnes on March 9, 2012
Thank you SO MUCH for this project. I live near both Tuscaloosa and Eutaw, and am the only volunteer in my local county shelter. It is a never ending struggle. I also work with Robbie from Mobile. I am very thankful for what you are doing, and am glad to help in ANY WAY that I can, including offering a place for you to stay if you return to west central Alabama.
