Last chance to pledge, big show on Dec 12th
Well folks, this is it. Our last week of fundraising on Kickstarter. It has been a totally amazing experience, and once again we take a moment to express deep thanks to all our generous pledgers. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to record a new record. We promise to make it great! And thanks for coming out in droves and supporting our band. Adding your name to the list of "backers" helps us more than you can probably imagine. Everyone is talking about us, and it's all thanks to you!
As usual we are attaching some "backer's only" audio clips to this update series. Please enjoy them!
We are still open for business for the next week, so if you know someone who hasn't had the chance to pledge yet, please encourage them to do so. As a reminder: Kickstarter made us pick a target for donations that we thought we could reach. If we had fallen short, all the payments would have been reimbursed and we wouldn't have gotten a single Roosevelt Dime. So, we picked the lowest amount possible that we thought would be a feasible budget. Every dollar over the 5k mark helps to expand the resources available to us, ultimately giving us a greater chance of success. So don't think for a second that continued donations are needless. Every single dollar counts, and continues to count.
For all the New Yorker's in the area we have a huge show coming up on Dec 12th. It will be featuring three other amazing bands, and it will be A) our first promoted show since summer, B) our last show of 2009, C) The best and most amazing night since our record release. Please come out and bring your friends. Here's the details:
Originally scheduled for Aug 21, "RootsRockRuckusRage on the LES" was postponed at the last minute due to a freak electrical fire occurring early the morning of the show. As the flier makes abundantly clear, NO FIRE CAN STOP US MAN!! That's right; same program, same bands, same awesomeness (provided no freak tornadoes, tsunamis, or locust clouds) on December 12 9:00 PM at Piano's (158 Ludlow St). Mark your calendars today, you don't want to miss this extravaganza.
Here's the original posting:
Imagine you are new to the City. You are walking around the LES because you've heard it's "hip." You pass a place called Pianos and think, "hey I'm pretty sure I've heard of this spot. Didn't my friend from the band Guanista and the Bat Killers play here?" After some deliberation over the "ridiculous" $10 cover fee you venture into the back room. What you hear astounds you. It sounds like Led Zeppelin only Robert Plant is somehow channeling...Nick Drake? After being thoroughly rocked by the band you find out is called "Hungry Hands," you decide to stick around to see what's next, and are soon shocked to find yourself dancing to the wicked contagious sounds of "This Way." The charisma and energy of the band sweeps you into rhythmic euphoria. You ask yourself, "what kind of awesome music is this?," and think, "the Boss meets the Heartbreakers meets a New England bar room dance party." After double encoring This Way, and watching Portland Maine sex icon, Jason Basiner fight his way off stage through a hoard of horny harlots, you think to yourself, "well I definitely got my money's worth," and are headed for the door, when just at that moment a soulful old-time R&B number starts up on the cornet and clarinet, and transports you back in time 80 years. You can't leave. The virtuosity of the Silver Dollar horns coupled with the down-home, raunchy, swaggerin' blues of the Roosevelt Dime rhythm section, is intoxicating. You grab a whiskey and watch, mesmerized, as the journey through roots music ends in a fever pitched electric-smack-down that can only be described as VoodooDixieAcidCountrySoul. Exhausted and satiated, you know its time for bed, but as if you are already dreaming, horns start appearing from all sides, and before your eyes an army of brass assembles, dozens strong, that makes you wonder if those mushrooms you took last week finally kicked in. "where am I?" you think as the soaring African melodies of, "No Small Money Brass Band" shake the rafters, and the floor threatens to give under the furious dancing that ensues.
OK now back to reality. You are you and we are us, and we are telling you- YOU DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, WANT TO MISS THIS SHOW. CAPICE? CAPICE.
