Update #16: Hot Blood and Steel: For Izzy Fitch
Update #15: 3 reasons why you're the best.
1. You believed in us and supported us, and for this we thank you.
2. You brought us to, and exceeded our proposed budget through unbelievably generous contributions, and for this we THANK YOU.
3. Now it's time to share the music that simply would not exist without YOU, so be proud, and thank yourselves!
You heard our single, "Wishing Well" here first. KS backers got the first preview. Now we have posted it online, on our new Facebook page, for the world to see. Proudly share the music that you made happen with your friends, family, and colleagues. This is exciting stuff; you are all officially producers now!
The mastering is in its absolute final stages which means that everyone in the $20 and above category will receive full download access, probably within a week! When you do get your download, play it for everyone you know, and tell them that it wouldn't exist without YOU!
Here's a quick link to the Facebook site where "Wishing Well" is posted. You can copy and send to friends: http://tinyurl.com/25v5qns
Eternal Thanks!

Update #14: Sneak Preview of Mastered Tracks and **Elevator Pitch Contest**!
Update #13: The Home Stretch
Update #12: Analog boys in a Digital world
Update #11: Latest News, Rough Budget
Update #10: ThankyouThankyouThankyou & More to Come
Dear friends, family, fans, and supporters,
We'd like to thank each and every one of you once again for the amazing show of support through Kickstarter. We didn't know quite what to expect when we launched this whole project, but it is humbling and inspiring to know that you all believe in our music as much as we do. Special thanks to everyone who was able to make it to our show this past weekend in NYC, but for those who weren't there, we guarantee many more great things to come.
As promised, we'll be keeping you updated via Kickstarter as the album progresses. For those of you who have never gone through the process of writing, recording, distributing, and supporting an independent album- here's your chance to see how it all goes does firsthand. Right now, we're putting the finishing touches on some of our older tunes, as well as working on some brand new ones that we think will really open some ears and turn some heads (think Radiohead meets John Hartford meets Zappa). We're aiming to get in to the studio in late winter/early spring (it's looking like we'll be recording in a barn in rural Maine; more on that to come in future posts...). And for those who pledged at the >$300 level, keep an eye out for your personalized ditty that we'll post on our website.
In the meantime, feel free to send us any suggestions as far as album art, layout, album name, etc... You guys are all an integral part of this project, so we'd love to have your suggestions and artistic and creative input. We've got a pretty clean slate right now as far that stuff goes, but we're sure as the music comes together all those other elements will fall into place with it. You can send any bright ideas directly to info@rooseveltdimemusic.com.
Thanks again, and happy holidays to you and yours.
Much love,
Roosevelt Dime & The Silver Dollar Horns
Update #9: A few new clips
Update #8: Last chance to pledge, big show on Dec 12th
Well folks, this is it. Our last week of fundraising on Kickstarter. It has been a totally amazing experience, and once again we take a moment to express deep thanks to all our generous pledgers. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to record a new record. We promise to make it great! And thanks for coming out in droves and supporting our band. Adding your name to the list of "backers" helps us more than you can probably imagine. Everyone is talking about us, and it's all thanks to you!
As usual we are attaching some "backer's only" audio clips to this update series. Please enjoy them!
We are still open for business for the next week, so if you know someone who hasn't had the chance to pledge yet, please encourage them to do so. As a reminder: Kickstarter made us pick a target for donations that we thought we could reach. If we had fallen short, all the payments would have been reimbursed and we wouldn't have gotten a single Roosevelt Dime. So, we picked the lowest amount possible that we thought would be a feasible budget. Every dollar over the 5k mark helps to expand the resources available to us, ultimately giving us a greater chance of success. So don't think for a second that continued donations are needless. Every single dollar counts, and continues to count.
For all the New Yorker's in the area we have a huge show coming up on Dec 12th. It will be featuring three other amazing bands, and it will be A) our first promoted show since summer, B) our last show of 2009, C) The best and most amazing night since our record release. Please come out and bring your friends. Here's the details:
***
Originally scheduled for Aug 21, "RootsRockRuckusRage on the LES" was postponed at the last minute due to a freak electrical fire occurring early the morning of the show. As the flier makes abundantly clear, NO FIRE CAN STOP US MAN!! That's right; same program, same bands, same awesomeness (provided no freak tornadoes, tsunamis, or locust clouds) on December 12 9:00 PM at Piano's (158 Ludlow St). Mark your calendars today, you don't want to miss this extravaganza.
Here's the original posting:
Imagine you are new to the City. You are walking around the LES because you've heard it's "hip." You pass a place called Pianos and think, "hey I'm pretty sure I've heard of this spot. Didn't my friend from the band Guanista and the Bat Killers play here?" After some deliberation over the "ridiculous" $10 cover fee you venture into the back room. What you hear astounds you. It sounds like Led Zeppelin only Robert Plant is somehow channeling...Nick Drake? After being thoroughly rocked by the band you find out is called "Hungry Hands," you decide to stick around to see what's next, and are soon shocked to find yourself dancing to the wicked contagious sounds of "This Way." The charisma and energy of the band sweeps you into rhythmic euphoria. You ask yourself, "what kind of awesome music is this?," and think, "the Boss meets the Heartbreakers meets a New England bar room dance party." After double encoring This Way, and watching Portland Maine sex icon, Jason Basiner fight his way off stage through a hoard of horny harlots, you think to yourself, "well I definitely got my money's worth," and are headed for the door, when just at that moment a soulful old-time R&B number starts up on the cornet and clarinet, and transports you back in time 80 years. You can't leave. The virtuosity of the Silver Dollar horns coupled with the down-home, raunchy, swaggerin' blues of the Roosevelt Dime rhythm section, is intoxicating. You grab a whiskey and watch, mesmerized, as the journey through roots music ends in a fever pitched electric-smack-down that can only be described as VoodooDixieAcidCountrySoul. Exhausted and satiated, you know its time for bed, but as if you are already dreaming, horns start appearing from all sides, and before your eyes an army of brass assembles, dozens strong, that makes you wonder if those mushrooms you took last week finally kicked in. "where am I?" you think as the soaring African melodies of, "No Small Money Brass Band" shake the rafters, and the floor threatens to give under the furious dancing that ensues.
OK now back to reality. You are you and we are us, and we are telling you- YOU DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, WANT TO MISS THIS SHOW. CAPICE? CAPICE.

Update #7: WE MADE IT!!!!
****Special update****
We made it!! Eternal thanks to all of our backers who have given us a chance to record our second album. We're so excited to get back in the studio, and truly would not have had the opportunity to do so without all of your support. It's an unbelievable shot of confidence and affirmation in what we do to know that so many people believe in the music we pour our hearts into.
Now that we've reached our $5,000 goal, we'll have the bulk of the basic expenses covered (studio time, mixing, mastering, and printing CDs). But, if you know someone who was planning on contributing but hasn't gotten around to pledging yet, or if you've just gotten so caught up in this whole Kickstarter thing that you want to make another donation, we want to assure you that every dollar over the 5K mark will still go towards towards things of paramount importance, (we're far from shopping for ivory canes and diamond-monocles). After all what's the point of putting all this effort into an album if no one's going to hear it?! That's where PR and touring come in. We need to get the word out to all of the potential markets that may be interested in booking our unique brand of VoodoDixieAcidSoul. It all, of course, costs money (sheesh, where does it end?): everything from gassing up the van and heading out to a music festival in Texas, to having a publicist get a feature of our band in a music publication in Denmark. Although we have had our PR successes in the past (see Blind Pig Party '09), it's not realistic to imagine running a band full-time, and doing PR full-time without both things suffering. Also, we lack the network of connections to magazines, blogs, radio stations, record companies, etc that make PR firms powerful. Hiring a firm would not only help us get the word out in advance of the record release, it would help us immeasurably for years to come. This is where every dollar over 5k will go: transportation, and PR.
As a reminder, all pledges made through December 13 will still receive the backer rewards. Even if you don't have anything to give, just spread the word about Roosevelt Dime to your friends and other music lovers- that means more to us than you can imagine. Thanks again to everyone for everything.

If you really want to get a taste of Roosevelt Dime, you’re best off going to one of their underground "blind pig" parties in NYC. During the days of Prohibition, there were as many as 100,000 blind pigs in NYC alone, which were a lower-class alternative to the more ritzy "speakeasy." In a time when incomes are stretched and pennies are pinched, folks are gravitating towards this rebirth of a bygone tradition. With a deep dedication to all things American music , Roosevelt Dime has crafted a unique sound that's equally at home in an old time reel as a second line slow drag, while still incorporating more modern alt-country and indie-rock offerings as well. The unconventional lineup of banjo (Andrew Green), electric bass (Eben Pariser), and drums (Tony Montalbano) walks the line between modern and traditional, Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi, like few bands can. Featuring a dynamic mix of rock, soul, country, and blues, along with some Dixieland jug circus music thrown in for good measure, they've got a mixed-bag sound often compared to The Band and Ollabelle, but clearly have a voice all their own singing out from fertile streets of Brooklyn, NY. Their debut album, Crooked Roots, displays their diverse songwriting and spirited vocal harmonies supported by a horn section, pedal steel, and bagpipes.
