About this project

Welcome to The Colorado Yule Marble Quarry located in Marble, Colorado, USA.

This historic quarry has been in existence for over 100 years. Located in the heart of America, it has produced the marble for the national treasures that are dear to the hearts of Americans: The Lincoln Memorial, The Tomb of The Unknowns Monument and the headstones of our nation’s fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery; making the quarry a national treasure, as well. Yule marble has become state and federal buildings, memorials, presidential statues, and works of art in the USA; and now, since the quarry reopened in 1990, it is being used throughout the world.

Included in this DVD:

The Final Tour of the quarry, given by senior quarry employee and expert Gary Bascom in 2008 exclusively for this DVD and covering the entire quarry. Tours of the quarry are no longer possible due to old hazards and new insurance requirements making this DVD the only way to ever see this historic quarry.

The Working Quarry, narrated by quarry employee Bob Collier, shows how the men, women, and machines extract the marble from the mountain and bring it down ’the hill.’

Historian Oscar McCollum, Jr., narrates The History of The Old Marble Finishing Mill, adding firsthand insight he gained during a visit to the working quarry and mill in 1941.

Photographer for The Tomb Restoration Project at the quarry, I narrate the search for the replacement die block for the Tomb of The Unknowns in Arlington, VA. The current Tomb Monument is damaged beyond repair and this exclusive footage shows the complete three year search for the replacement.

This presentation is capped off with a montage tribute to Our National Treasures and the men and women they honor.

Only in this Lincoln Bicentennial Edition will you receive a replica of the sole surviving copy of the old Marble Booster Newspaper’s 1916 ‘Lincoln Memorial Edition,’ in honor of President Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday.

This DVD is the definitive work on the Colorado Yule Marble Quarry and the Old Mill, over six years in the making. Loaded with historical photos, both rare and some unseen for nearly 100 years, along with new photos and footage of the quarry and mill that allow you to see what once was and what now is.

Previews of the DVD are currently available on my websites:

The DVD can be purchased through the websites as well as at museums like the Lincoln Museum, etc.

The plan is to go nationwide with the historic DVD and share this hidden history of our country. We need to provide Closed Captioning on the DVD in order for PBS to air it, fill a large order and send the DVD to film festivals, as well as replace camera equipment I needed to sell in order to finish the DVD. The equipment will be used to further document the Tomb project as it progresses and the quarry. All of that costs money that I just don't have. This has been a self-funded project for over six years and now I need your help to take it to the next step! I've put together some goodies on the right-hand side if you are able to help out.

A regional distributor of western books and history, Books West, has just recently begun to carry the DVD (the first time they have every offered a DVD) and we are looking to other distributors around the country to carry it, as well.

This is an exciting time in the life of this project and I believe you are the key to national success! Please pass the word on!

Thanks in advance and I'll keep in touch!
