About this project

I started Project: Death Race with an "open alpha" rules test, available to the readers at www.robotviking.com. You can check out the alpha rules here: http://www.robotviking.com/2009/06/03/project-death-race-open-alpha-playtest-rules/

Unfortunately, development on the game has slowed because I just don't have the time to test and retest new revisions and hammer the game into shape. Therefore, I'll use incremental Kickstarter goals to both gauge interest in the game and give myself the resources necessary to push development forward.

Basically, if we meet this initial goal, I'll be able to take a few days off from my day job as a freelance writer and get to a beta release of the rules: essentially complete, but a revision or two away from the final form. It will also include a vastly increased number of equipment cards, with more refined functions and flavor to suit the fictional game world we're developing around the game (the game world won't be complete at the beta stage, however).

Once we get to that point, we can worry about more ambitious future goals (like paying for artists for the equipment cards, and possibly a paper print run).

Robot Viking (www.robotviking.com) is a website devoted to tabletop gaming. It was founded in January of 2009 by freelance writer Ed Grabianowski. In addition to just writing about games, Ed sometimes designs them. The current game in development is Project: Death Race, a game of automotive combat using standard 1/64 scale toy cars.
