About this project

*****WE ARE FUNDED!! WE HAVE REACHED THE GOAL OF $5000!!******CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN!
Thanks to friends, family, co-workers, amazing people from all over the world, Copper Age is going into production!

=====YAHOOO!! ......BUT IT DOESN'T STOP HERE!=====

The $5000 covers a HUGE chunk of the budget including film stock, telecine, location permits, vehicle rentals, equipment rentals, location fees, fuel, cast & crew meals.

This budget does not include post, color correction, audio mix, FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS, promotional materials, or DVD production. Additional funding means being able to rent a Video Tap and Monitor for our camera. It means getting the best FX Makeup we can. It means having the best Post Production.

WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE CONTINUE TO HELP SPREAD THE WORD ON FACEBOOK AND TWITTER.

PEOPLE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT!

ALL OF MY SUPPORTERS WILL BE LISTED IN THE FILM'S CREDITS.

WHAT'S THE PROJECT?
Copper Age is a short film set in the Late Neolithic; an action adventure in the year 3300 BC.

An aged hunter-gatherer is master of his world, but his body is worn down from  rugged prehistoric life. The younger men in his clan want his valuable COPPER AXE. On a mountaintop hunting trip, generations collide in a bloody battle for survival.

This film is being made as part of my graduate work at UCLA in the Directing/Production MFA Program. I intend to submit this film to major festivals.

WHY THIS STORY?
I was inspired by reading about Ötzi the Iceman, a 5300 year old mummy found in the Italian Alps. The forensic facts describing his life and death spoke to me; his teeth worn down from eating dried meat and grains, tattooed lines on the back of his arthritic knees, a flint arrowhead imbedded deep in his back. Piecing these bits together, a story began to form. Who murdered him? And why? And why didn't they take his valuable copper-bladed axe? Who was this man? What was the last day of his life like?

WHY ME?
I am attracted to gritty stories where the stakes are life and death. I'm interested in exploring traditions and examining how men deal with difficult circumstances. I grew up in the Hill Country of Central Texas on a small homestead. Hunting, animal husbandry, and building things from and on the land were a big part of my upbringing. My filmmaking is informed by experiences like working as a cabinetmaker, mucking horse stalls, building fires, and changing a driveshaft in the dark. :)

WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?
We're shooting on 16mm film stock on location in the Los Angeles Area (in the San Gabriel Mountains.)

Money pays for film stock, processing, telecine, props, costumes, permits, location fees, equipment rentals, crew meals, water, and transportation.

WHERE THE MONEY IS **NOT** GOING:
In my pocket. Seriously, though. This film is estimated to cost $6000 to make.  We are only asking for $5000. Whatever I do not raise on kickstarter I will finance myself. Crew and Cast are all working for FREE!! Camera and some equipment will be provided for FREE by UCLA. We are shooting all exteriors with natural lighting which saves us the cost of a generator and lights.
