About this project

In 2004 a colleague and I were discussing methods to teach rhythms. We both said we had tried many ways including money examples, fractions, blocks, mobiles, walking, / physical actions, etc with limited success. Both us looked for a better way.Flash forward two years… On November 20, 2006 I was teaching note values to several 4th graders.I told them to imagine that a beat or quarter note was worth one inch.
I wrote 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & on the chalkboard and told them 1 & was an inch.
They immediately grasped the concept and were able to place combinations of half, quarter, and eighth notes in measures with ease. I continued this with more classes – as did my colleague.

Our success rate stunned us! And thus the Rhythm Ruler was born!

After investing capital out of my own pocket I had the initial prototype of the Rhythm Ruler fabricated. After showing to many educators and distributors I have learned quite a bit!

Now it's time to have a quantity fabricated and in the hands of distributors!!
