I'm so sorry that your project did not reach its goal. Please do not give up! Maybe you can try again? I look forward to seeing how things turn out, your idea is ingenious. I'd give more money if I could.

I'm very impressed that you have this running in the browser. I'm working with Kinect now, and I'd really like to explore adding your concept to 3D body scans to make fitted custom designs. Will the source be open?

Brilliant idea! It would be interesting to see how the patterns work with different fabrics, or even metal/plastic elements like mirrored materials. Best of luck and I look forward to checking out the app updates.

@Dustin The current collection is all based on the "triangulation" idea. This translates in different ways depending on the material. So, our t-shirts have a more natural drape than the full dresses. The triangles form the unifying aesthetic for the collection. In the future we might do other ideas that create other patterns. ;)

Mary, first congrats on a great idea. Question - would you envision these dress or other garment designs to always be in this triangular style or would you refine it to have the garments more fluid, etc?

Thanks and keep up the great work!

@Viki, and everyone else, the "scissor" tool is now up on the site! Give it a try. We're still working to make it better, but right now you can cut away those extra triangles for when you want to make a V-neck, etc. Wait until you're done drawing to use the Scissors, you can't add more triangles once you start cutting.
And yes, standard global shipping is included for everthing! We would be happy to make you a dress :)

@Kyra Yes, the online app is still in progress. There will be a "scissors" tool to cut away those extra triangles. I have it in the Processing version, but I haven't added it to web yet. :)

I think this is awesome and so fun! I have been playing around with the app. I have not been able to generate a v neck or scoop neck. Is it possible now, or is that something that will come later?

Hi Mary, ~ fabulous idea. I love the idea of being able to build my own pattern. Is it your goal to make it usable for any size person? I hope so, part of the difficulty that this idea can solve is for those of use who don't fit into the 5'6", size 2-10 mold.

      Thank you Matt and Diatom!
To Matt: Good question! Yes, just save your design and we'll make you a cutting pattern. (I'll put in adjustments to make sure the pattern is sewable, etc.) You can either put your name when you save it and let me know, or email the .stl file. I'll be making adjustments to the app online as we go, so you might find there will be better drawing controls later. Feel free to play around until you're satisfied with one you like. :)

Hey we love your project, and agree that the future of digital fabrication will be awesome!

We like that your dresses have a beautifully resolved aesthetic that is also enriched through a collaboration with the people wearing them.

      Good Luck!

Mary wow what a great idea. I love the marriage of design, technology and fashion here. If I go for the $25 cutting pattern option. Is that the cutting pattern for a dress I create using the software or one of your designs? Would we send you the the saved design somehow once the funding is complete? Matt
