We've been hard at work for the last month to open up constrvct.com for everyone. And today is our official launch day! So please help spread the word, now everyone can make an account and create designs. Ordering on the site works too!
There are still lots of things to keep working on, but with the site launch we are most proud of these things: (The first 3 in the list are actually what has kept Jenna busy for the last 2 months.)
-- Our new fall style, the tailored Sheath dress. This is made in cotton sateen, and it takes a special printing process to do cotton in this quality. (The skirts are similarly made)
-- Full 3D tailoring, with size preview. This is a first! You can put in your measurements, and see the actual size. This is partly because the print varies just slightly with sizing, so it's greater accuracy.
--Seamless 360 image mapping, which works especially well if you have a symmetrical image. (We added the "mirror" option on the edit panel.) This is enabled by default on the sheath dress and skirts since they have a back zipper.
--Favorites! We love seeing all the designs people make, so now when you're browsing on the "All Constrvcts" view, you can click the heart icon on a design to save it to your favorites list. (Still working on adding this to other views.)
--Comments + Photos! Some of you have sent me photos of your shirt or dress and it's awesome! Now you can attach a photo to your design, as well as write a note for other people if you really like theirs.
--Sharing: People still need to create an account if they want to make designs, but you can share links to your design and everyone can see them perfectly fine. It shows the image of the design if you're on your phone or a computer without webgl. So we added in the usual twitter/tumblr/pinterest buttons. (Facebook button was buggy, so will work on that in a bit.) Check out this awesome circuit board dress design one of our scientist friends made: http://constrvct.com/designs/585
We made some time to take some photos. We didn't really have time to hire a model, so all the photos are of me. ;P Luckily our friend Adam Harvey is an awesome photographer.
So please try out the site, and let us know if anything doesn't work.
Also, what is listed on the site does not affect any of the Kickstarter pre-orders. You will get your shirt or dress! (We had to raise prices on shirts for the general public due to the cost of production. Men's shirts are not yet available for ordering on the site, we have some work to do to toggle the men's/women's sizing so it's a couple extra days.)
We'd love to see lots more new designs this week!
Plus, there are still some special things we are working on, so there will be more updates in the coming weeks. For a peek at features to come, take a look at some of our own designs in the "shop" area, like this one: http://constrvct.com/designs/659 It's pretty neat when you can see the completed design as well as the 3D!
If you want to read even more, we have a blog on the site now. http://constrvct.com/blog
Also, I've noticed some people have added me on Facebook. I use my personal facebook for people I've met in person and classmates, so it's better to find us at our CONSTRVCT page-- http://www.facebook.com/constrvct
We are also on Twitter & Tumblr @constrvct. I check Twitter a lot, so that's a good way to reach us if you want to send a quick note. We're going to start posting our favorite designs from the site on Tumblr ;) http://constrvct.tumblr.com/
This might be the appropriate time to say--"Is this the beginning of the end? No, it's the end of the beginning."
