Rhino Steady Update #10 Carrying Case, Presets & Issues

Update #19 · Jul 26, 2012 · comment

Hey Rhino Team! It's been a while since I've been in touch. I've been busy working on our new product, the Rhino Slider. It's coming out in a week on Kickstarter. You can check out some images of it on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/rhinocg. If you get a chance, "Like us" if you haven't already.

Since you backed our first project and essentially helped us launch this company, I want to reward you. I'm going to email all of you as soon as the project launches so you'll be the first to know. There will be a reward for the Rhino Slider that is $25 off the normal Kickstarter price. That's intended just for you guys for your early support of us.

Carrying Case

We finally got our prototype done for our Rhino Steady carrying case. Check out the video to get an inside look. It will retail for $39.99 (we're barely breaking even on it) and will be available in a couple of weeks.

New editable preset sheet

I have a new Google Doc up for the presets list (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmQBShY3ciL_dEh0dTdZYlZZZ25JMHc5RmJKbGNKdXc&pli=1#gid=0) So far only mine are on there. If you have sucessfully balanced the Rhino Steady please submit your preset to help everyone else out. I wish I could meet all of you in person and help you out but that probably won't happen :)

Rhino Steady on Amazon

We're posting the Rhino Steady on Amazon and we'd love to get some of your positive reviews/experiences on there (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008J3RZ9E) If you have had a bad experience please email me at support@rhinocg.com and I'll try to help.

Handle issues with Rhino Steady

Some of you have emailed me saying your handle is stuck and won't rotate. This was our fault due to placing the black pan wheel too low and the foam handle most likely crept up and started rubbing on it. All you have to do is either move the foam handle down with a screwdriver or move the pan ring up by using a 1/16" hex wrench. This should solve those issues if you're having them.

Captive Screw holder

Also, some of you have lost your captive screw and had to buy replacements. We are going to make available a little plug you can put into the stage so it won't fall out. These will be free, all you have to do is pay for shipping if you'd like one. (http://www.rhinocameragear.com/Captive%20Screw%20Holder?filter_name=captive)

Wow, that was a lot of updates. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be in touch again soon.

EZ-Steady Shipping Update #9 & How to fly video

Update #18 · May 14, 2012 · 8 comments
Hey Tribe, we're on track to ship the remainder of the Kickstarter orders early this week. We're so excited to get all of these out to you guys and get your feedback.

We have had a few issues with shipping. If you receive a unit with a bent stud on the bottom weight pack send us an email with a picture to support@rhinocg.com and we'll mail you a replacement. Also, if you get a unit with a thick weight that's stuck on the bottom weight pack give it a tap with a hammer to free it up.

Attached is a PDF that of 10 "presets" for different camera and lens setups. It will take out all of the guess work for using the stabilizer. If you feel like you have yours perfectly balanced, share you set up with us! What channel, how many thick and thin weights on the front and bottom packs. This help others get theirs balanced much quicker.

Rhino Steady Instructional Video

Update #17 · Apr 30, 2012 · 1 comment

Hey Backers/Team/Rhino Tribe, some of you should be receiving your stabilizers today! There is an instruction manual included in your shipment but we created a little video that might be easier to understand.

Also, I wanted to fill you in that we changed the name of the EZ-Steady to Rhino Steady. This was done with future branding consistency in mind. Most of the products we create will have Rhino in front of whatever the product is ex. Rhino Slider, Rhino Rig, Rhino Dolly, etc. We're still figuring out how to manage the transition with SEO in mind since a lot of people are still searching for EZ-Steady.

Anyway, I hope you guys love them. Please email us at support@rhinocg.com if you have questions and if you like the Rhino Steady, share it! Tweet, Facebook it, post a video of it.  We want to hear your feedback. Thanks again,

Kyle

EZ-Steady Shipping Update #6

Update #16 · Apr 27, 2012 · 5 comments

We're finally shipping! This has been such a crazy journey and we're finally there. We have about 85 EZ-Steady's shipped out. We'll be assembling and packaging another 100 which will go out on Tuesday. Then a week or so after that we'll have the rest of the stages back from anodizing and those will go out. We can't tell you how much your support and patience has meant to us over the past 5 months. Thank you so much backers!

We'll be filming an instructional video today that will help you learn to balance the EZ-Steady (an instruction manual is included in your package too).

If you have any questions about the balancing or flying process please send all e-mails to support@rhinocg.com. We'll try and get back to everyone within a day.

EZ-Steady Assembly Update #6

Update #15 · Apr 12, 2012 · 13 comments
Ok guys, our new handles have been made and are being anodized right now. We finally found a supplier that is quick and makes great parts! They should be at our door by the time we get back from NAB on Thursday. We'll finish assembling the first 88 and get them out as soon as we can.

After that we'll have another 96 stages back from anodizing and we can assemble and ship those out shortly after the first batch. The last thing we'll be waiting for is the remaining balance of the stage parts. Once again, after we receive those and they get anodized we'll get those out the door and all of you will have your EZ-Steadys!

We're so excited that this is coming together. We've had so many hitches and bumps but we've learned a ton with all of you riding along with us. We hope to take all of this experience and put it into the design and manufacturing of our new Rhino Slider which will be on Kickstarter in about a month. We'll reveal that this weekend when we get our prototypes assembled. Get ready, because it's going to blow you away.
